i just recieved my SVT 40 and can anyone out there explain / help why i cannot snap the trigger assembly back into place in the reciever. the hammer is cocked and the latch at the rear of the reciever is swung to the left. the grooves line up, but no matter how much i press down on the trigger guard/assy she just will not snap into place. i feel like i am forcing it and that should not be. any help ? thank you

update; i removed the small spring set inside the stock that connects or places pressure on the end of the trigger assembly. the trigger assy snapped into place with this removed.

Sometimes, trigger guard need help of a soft maillet to snap into place. I have 3 svt, one of them need a good tap to click in place. Assuming that the release catch work freely, give him a sharp blow with a plastic maillet if you have one, a wood block can be good too. You should put back the spring in the stock, this make the trigger group to pop out for removal, making removal easier.

I had to use a vice with rubber grips for mine. All of the above methods did not work, although I did not take out the spring.

If you do use a vice, grip from the trigger guard to the very topmost part of the reciever. Not the middle, the top rear jutted out peice of metal that the spring sits on. Works like a charm.

thank you guys, i had to really sink the spring in the hole deeper for it to snap in place. i had a block of wood underneath the reciever while i applied pressure on the trigger guard. now she is in place.:D

the spring is in the stock where the trigger assembly frame rests in. it applies a downward pressure helping to keep it secured. i am sure someone more qualified can explain it better.
