I have a "stupid" question: if we can't get MR556 rifles and upper receivers, what is the best alternative when it comes to reliable piston 16" or less barreled AR15 upper receivers?
I was seriously thinking if slapping an HK MR556 upper receiver on a Colt AR15 lower receiver but this seems impossible in Canada.

All companies that make firearms need maintenance it does not matter which kind, that being said many HK firearms tend to be built like tanks.
Not saying that HK firearms aren't good and I admit that it's highly unlikely that it would break but in the highly unlikely event that a parts breakage does occur, what then? Wait 9 months while Wolverine tries to convince R Nicholls to bring in a part? Buy two of the same gun, strip one down for parts and sell the frame?
Again I know it's highly unlikely but same can be said for any modern production gun.
PS: Yes I've seen a USP break... don't ask what happened to it. Answer would depress you.
I'm pretty sure the mr223 is interchangeable with other ar lowers now.. but why is it called the m223 in canada, not the 556? so basically there are no complete 416 rifles available? i'll have to look at importing one.

where can i buy a HK416 complete rifle and what sort of price am i looking at? thanks
R Nicholls is an extension of the the "You Suck and We Hate You" HK Policy.

I see this as a huge problem, but the solution is we need a new distributor for H&K. I really have had nothing but negative experiences with R Nicholls in regards to HK importation, that is why i don't go through dealers like Wolverines that much for HK products anymore. Way too much hassle, i don't like buying guns from retailers that can not support there product line. Nothing against Wolverine i know it is out of there hands..At least they tried...
This is why I like what Questar and especially Armtac bring to the table...This is also why I don't bother with generic stores anymore in regards to AR or black rifles, the stores that deal in this line of products like OST is what i support now. Myself like many others look for specific things in my guns and demand certain criteria(MIL-SPEC minimum), I don't like going to a gun store and getting answers like "its good, or just as good as" or "its the same thing" just my little pet peeves...
If HK has any brains left in it's sale department they should drop R Nicholls like a bad habit and find someone else.
Unfortunately there's not much incentive for HK to do that. Most their profit in Canada will be government / LE contracts. Truth be told there's every reason for HK to not drop R Nicholls because they supply several LE agencies already.
Only possibility of any relief I think is if HK GMBH allows HK USA to export... which they really have no incentive to allow.![]()
