Ive done a few searches to find my answers and Ive wasted about 1hr to try and find the answer but i cant... Just got this one from a member here.... but I have a few questions because im a noob to the m14 platform.

1. On the sage scope mount do I have it mounted in the correct position? And what is the lil grey metal square for? It looks like it goes on the screw on the end of the mount but I cant figure out how to make it sit correctly, so for now I left it off.

2. When he shipped the gun it didn't have the flash hider attached... he included the wrench to hold the barrel and tighten the washer thingy in the hider... but do I need any lock tight or will hand tightening be good enough?

3. How do you attach a vertical foregrip with that hand guard in the way? Or do i have to remove or cut the handguard to install a vertical grip?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

The Sage Cantilever also uses a clamping action to connect to the rail as opposed
to a camming type of action that will eventually damage or remove finish from the rail.

A separate base is inserted into the existing stripper clip guide and locked into place with a set screw.
This item acts as a locater and base for the rear of the cantilever rail.
Once it's lined up, you bring the dog point screw down until you see the rear of the DCSB start to rise,
then screw down 1/2 a turn more to pre-load the cantilever.

As for the flash hider, once the castle nut is tight, there is a set screw top front that needs to be tightened to secure the nut. Easy :) no locktite needed..

Going back to that little square piece that goes on to the scope mount.... i cant get it to sit on the gun "properly" or flush. its either tilted on one side.... but if i leave it off (like in the pic) I can tighten it so the mount is solid but I wasn't sure if Im doing it wrong... and i think its because the piece rests on another rail section. I could probably mount the scope without the scope base now that Im looking at it. But I bought the base before the rifle showed up.

I have the wrench for the flash hider nut, I just wasn't sure if I would need lock tight. So using the wrench get it as tight as possible and then use the set screw to secure it and I should be good right?

I'll maybe remove the hand guard for the grip. OR look into getting a small rail to attach to the bottom of the guard.

Thanks for all your help guys.

snug the castlenut and if it doesn't line up with a slot just advance it enough to catch the nearest slot for the setscrew. You do not want to goon it on...it places torque at the worst place on a barrel so just snug is fine. Thats one thing you check off the list when going over the rifle before a range session

Thanks so that set screw is supposed to fit inside those indents used for the wrench once i get it tight, but not overly tight. I got ya! Thanks!

Back to the scope mount.
Remove the stripper clip optic mount rail and replace it with a stripper clip guide that the SAGE insert will fit in.

The SAGE insert is made to fit USGI stripper clip guides and you should
test fit the insert in your guide before installing the guide on the receiver.

It does not need to be super tight, but you don't want is super loose either.

Ok see I didn't know there was a different stripper clip guide.... noobness showing through really strong here! LOL But I found it in the parts bag so now that lil grey square thingy (lol) makes sense how it fits.... swaping that stripper clip rail looks like a pita!

OK wow I really suck at this M14 platform... so I ordered some 20rd mags from 44mag.com as recommended buy some guys on snipershide... but for some reason they dont "lock" into place like the 10rd mags.... they look exactly the same except the capacity.... any ideas? LOL They fit and the front locks in but I cant get the back to lock in WTF!

Have you given the bottom of the mag a real solid wack with the heel of your hand? Don't be gentle. Da ##### likes it rough:D

I tired... im going to try another mag maybe I got one bad one

Ok I noticed the back block on the mags are a hair longer than the one on the 10rd.... is there a way to adjust for this?

Sure, if the 20 rounder doesn't fit because the locking tab is too long take a dremel or a file and even them up. Just measure them every so often to make sure you don't take too much off. Probably take about 5 or 10 minutes.

That, my friend, is an awesome setup. I've just aquired an M-14 clone and I would love to know where I can get a Sage EBR setup in Canada. Any help on that would be greatly appreciated.

Contact DelSelins on here; that's where I got my Sage EBR stock :)
