I threw up an ad looking for a Foxpro E-caller. I had two responses: One guy had a Foxpro Fury used only once. Doesn`t come with a manual or box for $450.
$620 plus tax at Wholesale Sports, but they don`t have any.

The second guy had a Foxpro FX3. Said he paid over $500 for it, and wants me to make him an offer.

The two look very similar in appearance. Does the FX3 have the flashcard and how many batteries does the caller itself take?

I know the Fury takes 8 double A batteries, which would make it easy to adapt to a cigarette lighter or a small 12volt rechargeable ATV battery (seen this done before and worked quite well).

I need honest opinions please. Who knows, the guy with the FX3 might not want to go any lower than $450. In that case, I`ll settle for the Fury.

Thanks,Darcy

The Fury is the newer, more capable model. Although I have had an FX3 for several years now, and have had no problems or complaints, I would not hesitate to choose the Fury.

All of the features are clearly listed on the Foxpro website, btw.

I own the Fury and you see what kind of success I have had so it works. Volume is an issue, but no need for two speakers at all. I use only one at all times. I'm not up on the FX3 but the calls on it , I only use about 8 of them at this time of year. I would thing 20 calls would be plenty...

Interesting! I`ve seen your pics and success. I`ve heard about the "non use of the second speaker" before. So if a guy was only to use one speaker, wouldn`t maybe a Foxpro Wildfire suffice? On the "one speaker" scenario: What would you rate a Wildfire to a Fury if both were close to the same? Lets say the only difference between the two were: Fury = a few more sounds and one extra speaker. Would it be a close race between the two? If so, I`ll just buy a brand new "Wildfire". I hate to ask so many questions, but I want this to be my last purchase and be happy with it. Right at the moment I have a $50 Cass Creek caller and it is marginal at best. Thanks,Darcy

Darcy, this is exsactly why I'm on these boards, to try and help someone if I can.

Your questions are good and it would be nice to others opinions on this,

This is why I answered your thread in the first place. I've spent the $600.00 on the Fury (No I don't work with them so I did not get any discount) but after some use I do not see the need for the second speaker if you can get a machine that will compete with the same volume with only one speaker.

As for the other machines I can not honestly tell you the details or if they are as loud because I have never heard them in action beside one another.

It would be a great test but I don't have any other hunters around here with ecallers. I do understand the volume control is different on the other machines as some of them go from 0-10 in volume and the Fury is 0-40

now with that said is there a volume difference in the loudness of the machines ? It would be interesting to see/tell

I do know that playing mine on Volume 26 that I can hear dogs (house Dogs) barking back at the sounds from a 1/2 -3/4 of a mile away as soon as I start, so they can hear the screems of distress which told me something about the volume.

Where I could see the importance of the extra volume is on a set and the ecaller is facing into a rise or hill towards they way you want to call. That extra volume may help the sound to travel over it...

My opinion, for what is is worth, if the Wildfire has the same calls and has the same speaker volume as the Fury with the one speaker, I would have bought the Wildfire instead. The second speaker to my understanding is more for the calls that have two different animals in distress like a fox and rabbit sounding together, something I have not seen a lot of success with yet. The only issue with 2 speakers working at the sametime is The Batteries die FASTER!

I hope that helps...

I have a fx3. Great caller, very loud with just one speaker. It take 8 AA. The new foxpros with foxbang and foxcast are pretty neat. The new callers have lot better remotes. Mine with the fx3 doesn't have a digital display, just shows the sound #.

Yeah, I've been very happy with my FX3. The new features like FoxFade and the much better remotes would draw me to the new versions like the Fury.

Remember CV , you have to buy the FoxFade extra , but it would be good because it is a bugger to pull a bolt back and reload and find the KiHi all at the same time :D

The point was that some of these features, like FoxBang and FoxFade, are not an option with the FX3. ;)

I had a FX3 for a few years,and recently sold it for $250 to a fellow cgn'er.
There is an upgrade available for them from the Foxpro factory, but you have to send it to them, and when all's said and done, you are spending close to what a Fury costs.
I got my Fury on Ebay for $499,which is actually less than what I paid for the FX3 when the US exchange was not in our favour.
The Fury has some good features (presets for your favorite sounds, and you can make your own sequences as well, there's some auto volume stuff as well, and some other the features I haven't used yet.I do wish they had put foxbang on as a standard feature, instead of charging us another $75 to get it.
They have 2 speakers,a horn and a cone type, which handle some of the different frequencies, one better than the other so you can use one or both.
The Firestorm is also worth a look,it comes with foxbang, which may work okay I don't have it on my Fury, but I get more than my share of double kills anyway.

I have the FX3-maybe for 2 years. It's great, but the long range remote would be a feature I would pay for if I could upgrade. I would go for the the Fury...couple nice extra features as well.

I have a fury and my friend has an FX3. Both are good callers and I would only get a Fury if it was close to the same price as an FX3 (i.e. within 1-150 bucks) if you can get an FX3 for cheap it is a great starter caller.

I would either buy shares in duracell or spend another hundred upfront for the 12 volt gel cell and charger.(shown near the middle of the picture)I don't know how long the gel cell lasts because i've never run it dead even after a weekends calling. Heads up don't buy extra sounds until you feel out your fellow cgn members.;)

Couple things i don't like on the fx3 are no numbers on the volume control and the screen only shows a number instead of the actual sound name.

Thanks guys for all the replies, they were very helpful!!! I ended up buying the Foxpro Fury. It was a 2 hour round trip, but got a good deal on it. At WSS it is $620 plus tax and I bought this one for $420 and it was only used once. Guy never had a manual, in a few minutes of searching, I should be downloading one! Thanks again,Darcy

Thanks, Yes I went a little earlier yesterday and before I bought the call (Already knew I was not going to pass it up!) I bought a Duracell quick charger and 8 2450mAh batteries. I also bought a 12v cigarette plug in and I just need to find the "9 volt end". I want to wire the two together and if I feel like calling from the vehicle, I can just plug in, instead of using the batteries.
I`ve read here about two different style of the Fury, this one is a GX7 with the TX500 controller. Can someone roughly tell me how old it might be??
