Canadian Mil Scale: What is this?

So I just downloaded this neat e-book from the optics forum that is a breakdown of different reticles in different manufacturers.

On about the third page of US optics there is a hashmarked reticle entitled "Canadian Mil Scale"

I've never heard of this before. Is it possibly the reticle used by CF? Does US optics make our (their) scopes?

Or does Canadian Mil Scale refer to some other kind of mil-ranging that was adopted in Canada?

You'll find the image on page 16 of this book That's a pdf direct link there, so it may or may not work. It seems like a neat book overall though.

The markings in the reticle are spaced such that the distance between two represants 1m @ 1KM.

Good for quickly judging range when veiwing something of a known height.

It was a reticle that was designed for the CF when they were considering adopting the SN3 for the C14 Timberwolf. They ended up going with a S&B scope instead, so it was never adopted. It's similar to Leupold's TMR.

call them (us optics) and ask, but I'm quite sure a mil is a mil and there is no differance in measurement. 1m @ 1000m. it's likely how the hash marks are layedout

Looks like a regular MilDot reticle to me. 1mil=3.6"@100yds or 36"@1000yds.

item in inches X 27.8=()/mils on reticle= range
ex.... with scope set at calibrated magnification the space between dots =3.6"@100yds 7.2@ 200, 10.8"@300yds and so on

17" car tire rim x 27.8=472.6, 472.6/1.5(mils of reticle encompassing rim of tire)= 315 yds to tire rim.
