Keep in mind there is the VX-R scope, as well as the VX-R Patrol scope ..... Two slightly different animals. My review was the Patrol version.
( Patrol has different reticle, and target turrets)

Ordered one today from P&D. She was just in long enough to answer my email.good timing.

Thanx for the order. We have several models now in stock. This is the old European line that has been adapted to an illuminated reticle (new side mount push button that is similar to the VX-6). We are very impressed with these models as I wasn't a big fan of the older illuminated switches mounted on the ocular lense at 45 degrees. Phil.

i like my new vxr

I just bought a vxr 2x7-33 vxr and put it on my browning gold slug gun and i love it. To be fair i have not had it to the range or hunting. When looking through scope your eye goes to dot very quickly and i think i will have no problen learning to shoot with both eyes open now. if it works as good as i think it will i will buy another higher power for my moose gun.

I feel the same about my vx-r.As you say your eyes are drawn to the red dot.It allows you to find your target quickly.Sure helps out on a moving target, for sure.

I believe the Patrol model is slightly different, but I have the 2-7x33 and love it. I am a big fan of red-dot scopes but didn't want to sacrifice magnification and this is the perfect compromise. This is a great scope. As soon as it comes up your eye is drawn to the center of the reticle. Give Prophet River a call. I shopped around and found them to have the best prices. Also check out Gagnon Sports in Ontario, they have them in stock and will price match. Both places are great to deal with.

x 2 what he said not adding much but not much to be added

An old thread but I'm about to buy a vr-x 1.25x4 or a vx-3. Is the quality of the glass and is the twilight system make the Vx-3 a better quality scope? Or are they pretty much even?
Thanks

. I have to make a choose between both before Friday. From leupold website specifications the vx 3 is supposed to be better but by a lot or not. It's such a small opening and magnification that I'm wondering if it make a difference. Also Im thinking that the red dot didn't show much in day time, correct? Thanks for the advice.
