The XCR's have come along way! Both are great rifles but have different advantages but I would give reliability and accuracy to SA from I researched and read. Its also what the Swiss Army uses so obviously it's a great weapons system and proven.

As for Ergonomics, Stock's, Caliber Conversion Kit options, AR mags and various cfg, parts etc...XCR is better.

In the end it comes down to what YOU like, know how to maintain the rifle, take care of it, clean it and shoot lots of rounds with it!

And how much does the custom lower cost?, don't even try to argue that the XCR isn't infinitely cheaper and easier to accessorize.
The S/A may have the XCR beat in other categories but not modularity, that is more than a bit of a stretch even if you're reaching... :rolleyes:

I wouldn't put much stock (pun intended) into that thread. The OP is incapable of removing a fastener and applying loctite and re-installing said fastener. If you can do what any 10 year old could, you will be fine.

So i guess the guys who have years of experience at a gun store couldn't fix it but mr expert who hasn't even seen the rifle or stock knows exactly what is wrong, it would help if you knew what your talking about, its not a fastener as the stock has no fastener its a stock length adjustment button.

Read what alex said again, nothing to do with the problem i have, the problem alex explains is the hinge, its to unlock and lock (swivel) the stock, not the stock its self which is the problem, it would help if you didn't jump to conclusions before getting facts, the guys at the store have enough experience and it was with their advice after the stock failed twice in 2 days to send it back and not mess with it.

Dunno about the rest of you but on my FAST stock, the two truss screws that hold the sliding portion of the stock in are METRIC... not imperial. Kinda surprised me and I almost stripped one of mine out so be aware that RA did some mixing and matching (probably due to lack of availability in certain screw styles).

Also, the stock may not lock into the rearmost position. Mine didn't, which is why I took it appart. The tollerances between the position slots and the spring loaded tab are pretty tight. I took the screw out of the bottom and pulled it apart... this was a mistake. Trying to get that spring and tab back in is a HORRIBLE BASTARD! Anyway, when I finally did get it back together it would lock into all of the slots without any trouble so it may have just needed some lube or a jiggling.

I've owned and shot both, the XCR doesn't hold a candle to the S/A. The XCR isn't even in the same zip code.

The only thing the XCR has the S/A beat on is caliber changes, which is irrelavent to me. I can buy a "cheese grater" rail for my S/A if I wanted to and add all the accessories I want. I'm not big on hanging lots of crap on my rifles though.

I like my guns "de-horned".

I have this mental picture of you posting a reply to anything XCR related... a little foam at the mouth,teeth gritted, fists clenched so tight you have to type with your knuckles! :p ;)

It's not fair to compare the XCR line to a true Military Specification Issued and Tested weapon system such as the Swiss Arms line.

For plinking, recreational shooting and non-defensive work the XCR is just fine.

Exactly right. If the XCR is a great beginner rifle, and the Swiss as mentioned is a proven service rifle design. Why would someone pay nearly the same coin for the lesser quality "beginner" rifle. Regardless, if the rifle doesn't run and run reliably then its a lemon. Between the two, the XCR is a far cry from the quality of a Swiss.

Nahhh... I've piped up a few times, but no knashing of the teeth. ;)

I don't dislike the XCR at all. I may own one as I heard the new ones work. It's just no Swiss.
