The "b" in the 75b and 85b denote the addition of a firing pin block. It's a pin which rises up in the slide and prevents the firing pin from being able to travel forward and strike the primer unless the trigger is being pulled. The idea is that a gun dropped onto the muzzle will not allow the firing pin to jerk forward with enough potential force to set off a chambered round.

The "problem" is that the FPB is lowered or raised by a separate camming action of the trigger bow or similar (not owning or having taken apart a CZ with a FPB I can't say for sure how it works) means that it's just more work for your trigger finger and something else to make the trigger feel less smooth. Not having it in the first place makes for a potentially smoother and lighter trigger. In actual fact the other factors pile up so that a nicely tuned "b" model can still feel as sweet as a rough feeling "non b". But if both are tuned and slicked up then the non "b" will most certainly have a slightly nicer trigger.

You'll hear or read that a lot of folks prefer the Colt Series 70 1911's over the Series 80 for this same reason. No FPB on the 70's.
 
Got this today in the trade - SP-01 Tactual. It's my 3rd CZ, I already have a 75B stainless and had a P-07 Duty. Shot it today as well, it's a nice shooting gun, heavy sucker tho! I have to say I prefer the weight of my 75B or even better my Glocks.

Ordered CZ Shadow today from crafm with a trigger job and comp hammer YAY, will give a range report when I get it. Thanks for everyones help.
 
I had a cz-75b satin nickel, that was a beautiful gun, but I sold it, and bought a shadow because its such a accurate gun, because the grips, and trigger are great. The tactical rail is nice if you plan on adding a light or lazer also. Just about anyone can pick up a shadow, and do some impressive shooting.

As far as CZ's go......the shadow is the one that everyone either owns, or wants to own.
