When I retire I'm moving to the Maple Creek area or southern Alta. I prefer the climate and there are no gophers left around here. A few wet years and poison has pretty much decimated them.
 
Here ya go Cummins :D. Shot about ten this morning and a couple after lunch but now the wind is blowing about 110km/h so they wont even stick their heads up anymore.

17HMR. The gun is sighted quite high for long shots and the shots pictured were low, probably even under them but enough to kill them. The one in the snow was a nice clean cut from his belly to his chin. When I picked him up his guts fell out. :redface:

Plus, I like shooting them low. Somersaults with blood spraying is always fun :D

If I really want to blow them up I use the triple deuce but the 17 is the only gopher gun I had with me today :redface:. I guess I should have been better prepared...

lol I have the same watch, and if it's as inaccurate and as fast as mine, you got that gopher two days ago and just haven't been able to get the pictures up till now.

+15 here with a 20-30 mph wind. going to take a quick cruise with the .223.

I really like this watch. It is the cheapest watch I have had in quite a while and it works awesome so far! I have really bad luck with watches :(
 
Congrats on the first Davey.... I always heard .17 was bad in wind.... I have one in the safe that was sighted in at 100 and hasn't been taken out since... bought on a whim...lol... may find a use for her yet...

What a terrible waste of meat. You dang "trophy" hunters are giving us regular guys a horrible name :D. I got one with my truck today but it was about 2 hours after your confirmed kill. We'll have to get out and shoot the big columbia's when they start to show... could be as early as the next few weeks. You're only gonna tickle them with that .17 though ;). Congrats!

I will bring more fire power when the Columbia's show up, maybe the 45-70 ;). I would imagine they will be popping their heads up any day now and will be keeping an eye out...
