Model 7600 Remington in .35 whelen

I believe Epps had 6 in stock when I purchased mine with 2 of them sold to buyers in B.C. When I saw them on the website I called immediately and handed over the credit card number. I was at their door the next morning when they opened to pick it up. Like a fool I traded it off for something else that didn't stay in the gunsafe either !! Bac4

Interesting maybe there was 7 total god knows I was always told 6 or the one that made it to the maritimes with another dealer originated at Epps. Thinking back it was funny the guy I bought mine from told me to call epps for another. All I know. I tried to get another from epps but they were all gone. Boy has the internet ever made the country small. It is like one big gun shop, with all of us chasing the same gems.take care

I bought these new from two different Ontario retailers in 2007 and 2010 - one walnut and one synthetic.
Correction needed - I checked my records and actually that should read I bought these new from two different Ontario retailers in 2006 (not 2007) and 2010 - one walnut and one synthetic - both are "non-monte carlo" which I prefer. I will edit above.

Grice's special runs - like their 35Rem 7600 carbines - were referenced by Remington, advising purchasers to go see Grices to buy them - no secret. To my knowledge so far Grices never sold a 35Whelen 7600 carbine.

The .35 whelen means absolutely nothing to me since I don't reload it or hunt with it and the only reason I even have one in .35 7600 carbine is because I know they have never cataloged one for resale as a normal remington production gun in North Americia.

How different we are since I favour the 35 Whelen for hunting. My walnut stocked 35Whelen carbine goes afield occasionally and is probably happier than yours - feeling the love. :)

A fellow CGNer (he may chime in) has the twin to mine made the same day - 27 dec 2004.

Here's another - this 25150 was made in Feb 2002 and sold stateside in 2003 - it has the walnut stock and j-lock like mine. 35s are rolled out in such fits and starts - again just get em when you see em!!!

Sorry I cannot do that fancy cutting of quotes.Probally should learn however. I collect like I said and rarely shoot most of my guns but hey to each their own . It is one of ther few 7600's calipers I have that has been a good investment
Was yours bought at epps or not??????? Never mind I know it was by the serial number plus both your gun and the other have the epps stock number on them 07925 & 07927.. If you know another member with one then it looks like all 6 are accounted for which is nice to see...
The Feb 2002 state side one was pulled for a gun show I was told and if you have that pic you also know where funny it was the same order number as the rest.At least I always thought that was strange unless the overseas order was a open Purchase order for 3-5 years which is possible.
Anyway I'm done with the .35w 7600 enjoy yours since it is a rare offering regardless how it came to be in canada and if my health continues to slide and my collection has to go I will offer it to you 1st if interested since I know you will treat it right. Take care and kind Regards
Some day in another post I would love to learn more about the .35W since it seems to have a following. I use my 243 and 280 7600 most times.
I just bought two months ago a lefty 760 in 223 which I have been looking for for years from a site sponsor and my focus right now it to get a cool blue in 7mm08 from the US.I just have one pic of the 223

Cool.. All 7600 are great guns for NB hunting. Same box too funny.
HEY I don't see TIKKA or SAKO on that box anywhere:p

AG - that M7 has been a long time coming - enjoy! Ya for sure - let me know how it shoots. Love to see a few pics too.

Looks like this thread was helpful despite all our box end banter.:) Your M7600 looked pretty nice and I hope Lingard441 likes it.

I make a special trip all the way from NS to Winnipeg and can't buy 200 TSX's in 35 cal at Wholesale or Cabelas...lol
Cabelas had NO Barnes 35 cal and Wholesale had only the 225 grain in TSX.
The choices available at either store in 35 cal was very limited, Speer or Hornady basically...

Guess I'll have to stick with the 225 partitions I can get down home for the 350RM.

That'll "get er done" any way. Linderhof had a M7 Custom KS/350RM also and reports 59grs W748 behind that bullet worked great on game - http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=698636&page=2 I use ReL15 and so far it has been deadly on paper.:)

You should get some TAC also to try if getting the 200TSX bullets. I've not tried it yet but that combo is the next best thing I'm hearing for a while now.

There can be .358" discrimination with some retailers. Often they jump from 338 to 375 in what they stock.

Regards,

I bought my 7600 35 Whelen (blue/wood) from Grices a few years back. After several years of storage at Grices (great folks) and trying different methods to get it back to Canada, I finally bit the bullet and had Questar import it for me. The fee was comparable to the cost of the rifle. All in all, money well spent, as I now have an unfired new in box 7600 35 Whelen as backup in case my engraved model 7600 35Whelen ever wears out. What 7600 fans need to do is pester Remington to sell the complete barrel assemblies as spare parts. I have been told that even a gunsmith can not order the assemblies since Remington never considered the barrels to be interchangeable. Perhaps this in only a myth- any gunsmiths on site who have tried to order a 7600 Remington barrel assembly?

Regards,

I've already got a line on some TAC. Hopefully I will have it hand by the end of the month. My plan is to run it in the 350RM, 358Win and the 223 and see what I get. I always keep Re15 on hand and burn that in my 308, but I'm sure TAC will perform well in the 308 as well. If it outperforms what I currently burn it could become my new go to powder for all the calibers I'm running that I listed above.
I know I posted my results for my 358 Frontier with H4895, but did I ever post the results I got using IMR3031?

Man do I feel stupid. Busted as you say. See I collect what I call the average Joe's remingtons stuff that is a bit odd or rare calipers have been for over 40 years, your nice wingmasters etc and a batch of 760/ 7600's.
The .35 whelen means absolutely nothing to me since I don't reload it or hunt with it and the only reason I even have one in .35 7600 carbine is because I know they have never cataloged one for resale as a normal remington production gun in North Americia.
Then boom you hit me with yours and I look like a fool.Shocking to most but wrong chicken to bust this time..
Ok your top gun was produced by remington in dec 2004 ( agree????) and it part of the famous or not so famous lot 25150 which was a substancial order manufacturered by remington in .35 W wood carbines for overseas, jlock, monte stock???.Could never find out exactly where they were slated for overseas but were in english boxes.
However some how six yes six guns out of this lot got misplaced and never made over seas but showed up almost 2 years later in late 2006 If I recall correctly with two regular remington stock orders in canada. The BS stories about them ordering them special from remington or a group of special ontario dealers got together in canada and placed a small order of these for a show is just that BS from what my dealer told me at the time and I believe him to this day.
Nope one showed it's head in the maritimes which is still here well greased and never fired in it's original box the the other 5 showed up at Elwood EPPS.
Two of the five went immediately to one buyer, which has since parted with one I found out, one to another ontario buyer who is a site member here and still has it and the other two I never could find out where epps sold them but perhaps you have the missing 5th or 6th since yours is clearly the 25150 batch.
So was your top gun bought new at Epps or not????????? You said 2007 I say late 2006 so we are close. If so you got it on me at the time since I was on the hunt for them all when I was told about the six but they sold too quick at Epps for 689 or 699 I forget.
On your second one I don't follow the special runs of syn stock models since I don't collect them but it was made dec 2009 and I know for sure Grice has some in 2010 for sale or as I have been told and I quote from other US remington 7600 collectors on the overseas syn models.
In the past year or so some examples have escaped the factory stateside & appeared in the U.S. market, so it pays to keep your eyes open. Yours could be either one in my mind don't really now but definately not standard rem production. Regardless you have two super rare guns there.

So I stand by what I said no .35 whelen carbide 7600 has ever been a remington cataloged item available to the average buyer in north americia. You seem to be a .35w collector so I am sure you already know the old 25150 batch story if not tell me what you have been told.. I do agree with you 100% on the fact if one is ever seen here grab it, Have a good one. Cheers :)

I BOUGHT TWO! sold one to my cousin and one for me!:) Walnut 7600 Carbine in .35 Whelen
Since sold it to another member. Epps did have five and i bought #3 and 4

Collectors items or not how can you guys have guns and just leave them in a box unfired? That's like sleeping with a ####star and not getting any. They were made to be banged!
