Standard Winchester Featherweight or Remington Model Seven?

I would get the model 7... not because the winchester is a bad firearm... but because I have a model 7 308 that has never let me down and has taken half a dozen deer in the last few years....

Another vote for the Featherweight, I've got both. This would be even more important if you are talking new. Its really going to come down to which one you prefer. I don't know if there is a better designed factory wood stock out there then the featherweights. It plain feels right and looks great. 22" barrel pros and cons that's for you to decide, depends if you want all rounder or more specialized.

Six of one and a half dozen of the other. Both very nicely done and good quality rifles. I have several mod 7s and my son just bought his girlfriend a new 308 Win FW and it is a sweet little rifle and first loads through it went 3/4" at 100 mtrs.

Tough call, I think it boils down to personal preferance.

After my disaster dealing with Remington warranty on a .204 Ruger LVSF I will never buy another and tell others that they are a pain to deal with if you have problems.
My favorite gun of all time is the Model 70 FW so its easy for me to say WINCHESTER all the way.

Cheers!!

The Model 7 CDL in a magnum setup is nice and balanced. The .308 based ones with pencil barrels balance and shoot offhand terribly. I'd go with a Mountain SS or Mountain LSS for the sake of the 22" barrel to help balance it better.

The Model 70 is reeeeally nice though...but its not a featherweight by todays standards.
