My new Volquartsen just arrived, so now I just need to mount a scope and start shooting it. Fit and finish on the metal is very good, but the inletting for the barrel in the McMillan stock is a little disappointing, with the gap being wider on one side than the other. The biggest drawback so far seems to be finding a scope that can be mounted on the short receiver. My first choice was a 4.5-14x44 Conquest, but there is now way that I can obtain the proper eye relief, as the turrets are right at the front of the receiver, leaving no room for the rings. I am going to try a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42,and hopefully it will work out.

I went with the stainless action and barrel, with straight flutes, and forward compensator, with a black McMillan Sporter stock.

If your barrel is tapped, V.Q. sells a longer scope rail that runs the length of the receiver and onto the barrel.
That would leave you more room for different scope options.
Food for thought.....

I put a bushnell elite 5-15 and still have some front to back movement between the rings . I'll look when I get home but I think my rail is milled into the receiver . I think one of the guns on VQ web page has the same scope setup you mention

checked mine when i got home .. its milled but have quit a bit of room in relation to scope and rings. i dont think youll have problems with the nikon

I went scope shopping today, and it wasn't easy, the Nikon was terrible with the low PRW rings, as the magnification ring wouldn't clear the machined in rail by around .100" with the eye relief correct. I then tried a 4.5-14x44 Conquest again, and because of the smaller diameter magnification ring, it was closer, but still no go. I tried the medium PRW rings which let the magnification rings clear, but I didn't find them comfortable. I ended up going with the Conquest after all, with the low rings, and I took a file to the rear end of the rail, and after quite a bit of effort, it fits perfectly. I can slide the scope just far enough ahead to obtain the proper eye relief with the turrets bottomed on the front ring. I didn't think that the Conquest would work, when I measured things up last night, but it actually fits well after the modification to the rail.

I purchased the rifle from Sylvestres in Bonnyville Alberta, and it is a 22lr. No pictures yet, and I am away from home until Sunday.

+1 for Sylvestres.. Great guys ,Rings are leupold PRW (high)
Just thinking the Hmr action would be longer than the 22 . And so would be the rail . Apples to oranges

:D Looks good :p How does it shoot? I have the deluxe model in the McMillan sported stock which has still yet to be shot.

Hands down the most accurate gun i own . but then again most guys .17 hmr are stupid accurate. brownells sells the 25 rd mags for 99 bucks , 1 dollar shy of the itar limit . I bought a couple but still perfer the factory mags. Its mostly a gopher for me , like i said im lazy and would like to set up shop and grabs some drinks and blast away .
