I found an hyper accurate load for my rifle (Nemesis 308), it is giving me 2600-2615 fps with a 208 Amax, would it have the juice to get to a mile supersonic, the BC of that bullet is incredible at some .650, it should fly well, anyway we can figured that out... JP.

Nope. Even at 2650FPS in a very hot day (+30C) and high altitude (4000') you'd transonic at 1300m (which is still really really impressive).

But the heavy AMAX do work quite well in transonic and if it's not too windy you could expect hits at 1600m.

If i cant make it, i will have to do it with 155 gr Lapua Scenar (high BC to around 508) i will have to succed pushing out of my 20 inch tube between 2900 to 3000 fps...JP.

Actually, according to JBM the 208AM started at 2610fps will be supersonic out to 1640 yards in the atmospheric conditions where I do my shooting. Looks like you can get quite close. There are guys on other forums that are using the 208AM from the .308 out to a mile quite successfully.

208amax gave great result out of bothy 308, with 1-12 twist, I got over2650 with one particular load with no pressure sign.

A bullet doesn't have to be supersonic to stay accurate.

The Hrn Amax usually have no issues going subsonic. I have shot them a very long ways.

The best way to know is to go 200yds BEYOND where the ballistics program suggests the bullet has gone subsonic. If accuracy remains, then the bullet will go as far as you have elevation for.

Dial it up and send it. I bet you have will great success at 1 mile.

I have a good load and after a few advises and a couples of goods reads it will do some tests with those 208 Amax... JP.

I sent a bunch to 1760yrds from 300wm at 2950fps.

The only way to KNOW for certain if it will make the trip from your rifle is to send them down range.

Care to share your load? I'm stalled working on the same thing due to a lack of time and range. Doubt that I've shot the damned thing in well over a year.:(

x2 what he said

Forgot to add, stay on target WAAAAYYY longer then you think until you get used to the time of flight.

When I started doing this, I was so dissappointed that nothing seemed to "get there".

Then I caught a glimpse of the impact after starting to move my head off the rifle. I was moving a second or two faster then the bullet travel.

Feels like an eternity at first.... fun, fun, fun....The ballistic program should give you a time of flight.

Im working on some loads but haven't had time to go out because of the weather...But they work very well in a rem 700 AAC-SD
