Millett scope on ebay. anyone have a export permit and i will pay them.

Credit card purchase

until the US does an exit check, and checks your personal exit area.

please don't tell people how to break the law and get banned from entering the US if caught. besides, it is against the board rules which you read and said OK to when joining.

I've mentioned this many times in the past, so once again about purchasing any goods regardless of what the item is. When it comes to using ANY credit card no MATTER whose, the shipper will refuse the order based on the fact that the credit card company will not authorize the purchase because your billing address of the card does not match the shipping address.

If you're going to start taking chances on bringing scopes across, you might as well try ammo and firearms too. We don't have to like the laws, just live with them.

I like the "he won't go to jail for one scope". Selling it to a Canadian is going to be viewed exactly the same as selling to an Iranian - export without the permit is export without the permit.

Wow. Guys. All I was Wondering is if there was someone who could LIGIT order this scope in for me. Ie had a licence. Never once did I ask anyone to do anything illegal or expect to try get it in myself....? Where you pulled that from... Who knows. I did not know the exact rules but was just putting it out there to see it retailers could bring it in for me. This scope is IMPOSSIBLE to find in Canada. I am not bull####ting. They are sold out or not in ATACS camo. The states has them in abundance.

I also don't want to do this because I want to "save a few hundred bucks". This particular scope I cannot find. I'd spend a load on this scope as its the only one I want right now. I know you can import them export them WHATEVER it's called. But I don't want hassle with paperwork. I understand now it's not possible fr retailers to bring them in.

So thankyou for the lecture on legal technicalities lol! But all I was wondering is how i could get the scope from the states from a dealer LEGALLY.

Sorry SB.....He's right.

Optics brought across the US border = jail time. It's 100% OK to bring them into Canada....but 100% NOT to take them out of the US.

 As others have said, jail time? Really? From first hand experience its a 150 (could be 250 i forgot) dollar fine for the person exporting illegally and then takes a few weeks for them to send it back to the sender and also send you the shipping bill, at what they charge to ship it back to you. Anyway, go to the Canadian website, file for an import permit which takes all of 5-10min (I don't know how you say there is any hassle in doing this, there really isn't any, if you can't find the website pm and ill send it to you). Wait a day or two (others here have said weeks, I have done this numerous times and it usually only takes a day or two), you get your permit emailed to you, and then find an scope seller that is willing to file for a export permit (once ageing not really a hassle, lots of dealers do it and it takes them the same amount of time it takes you to file for the import permit). Then after this you just wait a bit, the export permit can take a week to get approved or up to five weeks. Most of the time, for me anyway, it takes about three weeks.

IMHO,
I called the FDA to inquire about importing a Rifle/or any part of a firearm and they asked me to call the US State Department, which I did and the gentleman I spoke with said it is possible and all I need to do is to find a FLL (Federal Licensed) distributor/manufacturer or re-seller and get it through them. It is just a little bit time consuming and the hassle is to call around and fill out forms, but since your question was if there is a Canadian importer who will get it for you or willing to get it for you, I doubt it unless it a item that is already a part of their order/supply. Forgive me for asking what is so special of this Scope and isn't there a scope that is as good as this for the same price range?
BTW, to the guys who are talking about crossing the border with your purchase, you only have to go through Canadian customs/Immigration when you enter Canada. So I am not sure how the US Customs/immigrations come in to play ?? I am sure you only stop for US customs/Immigrations when entering the US.
So when you come in to Canada you truthfully answer all the questions they ask you at the customs/immigration when you enter Canada. And if they say you have to pay duty for the items you purchased, if you have gone over your allowance/quota, for your stay in the US, then you pay it and move on. No harm no foul. You are not doing any thing illegal.

Bad advice. They (US) spot check vehicles in the border areas. That's likely how you will get caught.

I am not advising any one to do any thing illegal, as you will not be coming through US customs/immigration when you enter canada. If you read what I say, I advise you to be truthfull. What you do and say is up to you. Like I siad call the US state department and go through the proper way.

Read it again. My response was NOT talking about shipping, but in direct reply to the suggestion to having it shipped to the border and then smuggling it over.

Jail time? I dunno....If you are caught trying to smuggle what they consider military equipment out if the US, the penalties listed include up to a ten year jail sentence....so yeah, it's *possible*.

Wanna risk the cavity search and go pick me up a scope?

You MIGHT be going through US Customs when you reenter Canada. As has been mentioned there are spot checks on the US side at most border crossings and their frequency seems to be increasing.I have seen them but have not personally been checked,I'm always clean anyway. If you are checked and you are carrying restricted items, you probably won't go to jail but you will not like the consequences.USBS/HS are not hired for their friendly demeanor, and their power is limitless due to the Patriot Act! Mur

You are dead wrong!

There is constantly spot checks at the borders here, and I have been stopped several times by them. They are specifically looking for firearms and firearm related purchases.

You Are absolutely correct on that one. I dont advise any one to smuggle any thing as I travel to the us at least once a month and I am registered at the border. I have never ever done any thing illegal and don't planing on doing any thing illegal ever. So, no I will not take a chance on bringing any restricted items from the US. So lets just go back to living our lives and enjoying the freedom of life. BTW, I did not know that a scope was a restricted Item.
