452 Tactical monstrosity + range report

While it's not something I'd do myself, I can certainly appreciate the work you did. I love the walnut on my cz's , hey! , I just looked in my gun room and my American is shuddering in the corner hiding behind a 10/22 with a white flag......

I am totally horrified.
after a minute, curiosity brings me back.
after one more I'm intrigued.

Please don't call it tactical, if anything it's practical.
lightweight, stable and sturdy.
how wide is the bar under the barrel?

+1 for maybe having to put a barrel tensioner on it though.

Looks Bad Azz Beer-Drinker! :D
Certainly not your average cookie cutter .22 I'm use to seeing.
I agree with Grizzly though....it needs a cheek rest to finish it off.
Have fun with it!!!!!

Most of the stock is 3/4" . The chamber/action is wider than the stock, the barrel isn't.

Needs a cheek rest.

Yeah I planned on wrapping some hockey tape around the stock as a rest, but I just wanted to snap a few "glamor" shots before I completely red-green'ed it. I knew there would be enough jokes floating around without any tape in the picture :D

Hockey tape?
Come on man, you've already proven you're capable of so much more. Bent plate, rounded top, adjustable height. Maybe plastic so it's not cold.
If you drool you don't want your cheek frozen to it.

Personally, I'm seriously impressed with your creativity & workmanship, particularly in light of the limited tools at your disposal. I've seen much lower quality of work produced by people with machine shops available.

You've given me some ideas, for sure! Hmmm...I might have to drag out that old .22 semi action & barrel sitting around...lessee now...big bock of aluminum? Check. Metal tubing? Check. Metal lathe lubed? Uh huh. This could be fun...and useful.

Could be you've invented a whole new class of rifle..maybe "Tacti-practical?" or "PractiTactical"?

Anyway, I'll be waiting for the next installment!!

I keep coming back to your creation more and more. I can see it with a big azz compensator/flash hider like some of the 50 cal guns. Might have to follow your lead and look for a low cost semi auto donor. Have a cheapo Vism green laser scope for sh#ts and giggles. I think with some machinery at ones disposal, a new trend is on the way. Lovin' it. Fred

A build-up thread about this would be nice. I actually really like it.

Minimalistical.

:agree:

I'd LOVE to see how you did it!! I'm betting there's lots of us out here who have an action of some kind they wouldn't mind having some fun with. And, considering most of us don't have a machine shop at our disposal, we'd like to get some ideas from you.

Maybe, a series of pics of the various major parts, or something? Please??

Thanks for the kind words. Yeah sure, I can snap up a few photo's for you gents when I get the time, but there really isn't much to it.

You just cost me the price of a Savage 64 for a donor. Local gun show today, used stuff was at new prices. Typical gun show stuff, bought a new 64 semi but still got hooked for $10 above WSS. No biggie, support the little guy. My Thompson build is done except the case. Got a whole lotta thinkin' goin' on for a new build on your radical style.
