Does anyone know if you I can get pistol sights from the states ?

The ones I want brownells has but for 93$ I would prefer brownells as I delt with them before and was fairly happy .

But midway USA has them for 67$ but Im pritty sure they won't ship to Canada
Could I have them sent to a po box south of the border and bring them back my self ? Or would I have to worry about the ATF making me kiss concrete ?

What particular sights are we talking about? I ask as there are several vendors that do in fact have some sights.....

And no, not really in regards to USA places sending sights.

I have been trying to get some heinie sites for a while and can't find a canadian dealer or an American company that will ship them.

Buy the sights from Brownells or another reputable dealer who has their export process sorted out. Midway will not sell them to you and whoever exports the sights ( e.g. You or a friend or a relative or anyone) still needs the export paperwork in order.

You can't save a few dollars on these kinds of deals. Until the US sorts out their ITAR export regulations, and remember they have a whole beurarcracy built on it, that's what we have to face.

You don't have to wait a week to place a second order with brownells. I've made multiple orders the same day. Shipping is the killer, but what can you do? Nothing illegal, if it was, brownells wouldn't do it. One thing you can try to save shipping cost is when you order, request smaller packaging with less padding. They are known for ridiculously oversized packaging/padding.

I wanted to buy a pair of Wilson Combat sights through Brownells and since the value was over 100 bucks I was told that they couldn't ship them to Canada. They suggested that I buy one sight, get them to ship it, and then buy the other one a week or two later and get them to ship it....which is what I may end up doing. This way each package is less than 100 bucks but you pay twice for shipping. Still cheaper that way than getting a retailer up here to bring them in for me.

Is that breaking any laws...:p. Will the RCMP visit me if I do that...black helicopters circling overhead....???? SWAT van parked on the other side of the road???? Geeze....maybe I better call my lawyer and ask before I buy them....

No laws being broken. Due to US ITAR regulations, any shipment of gun parts over $100 requires a license for that shipment. The exporter (Brownells for example) still needs their export permit but if the value is less than $100, they don't need the additional paperwork (i.e. the additional cost) for that shipment. The US Gov passed a law last year that is supposed to raise the value to $500 but the US Dept of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/) has not yet updated their rules so the $100 limit remains until they get around to it. Perhaps, once the DOS DDTC gets their crap together, then Brownells will be able to sell/ship gun parts shipments up to the presumably $500 cap.

Actually it would be Homeland Security, so really it wouldn't be bad until you tried to enter the US - then you'd learn you're on the watch list, and that every time you enter the US you get a free rectal-colon examine from a man with rubber gloves - sized XXL and spend 3 hours filling out forms (in triplicate) explaining why you're entering the US and where you're going and who you're talking to while you're there. Fun !!! :dancingbanana:
