I can't believe what just occured. So I placed an order a couple days ago for a Badger Ordnance tactical latch (19.99)and a set of Magpul Gen 2 BUIS (89.99). I was aware of the ITAR regs when I placed the order. Total came to $109.98 before shipping. I wanted to see if it would sqeek by anyway. I fully expected an email telling me to remove either item because of being in excess of $100 limit.

Received the original order confimration yesterday with the 109.98 total. Received a second confirmation today with a different total.... $92.99 !!!! Latch now listed at 17.99 and BUIS at $75.00 on the invoice. I checked and there is no sale on these items currently.

Did Brownells just do me a favour?? or am I reading to much into this?

You got dealer pricing. Brownells is a great company to deal with. Sandy in export dept is very helpful.

I already get the "special pricing". My total was just a little over $100US and it went through anyway, more than one time. It had nothing to do with the discount in my case(s).

I ordered some KNS Gen 2 anti-walk pins from Brownells this morning... Got a message saying they couldn't export them from some dude at KNSPrecision... So I was like ah well... Then around 3 o'clock I got an e-mail from Brownells saying that they shipped them! We'll see what happens I guess...

I've never had issues with Brownells in the past either. If dealer pricing is what I received then kudos to Brownells. They could have easily discounted my purchase to $99.99 but went the extra mile and knocked down to $93. Saved me ~$18 which should cover shipping.

I doubt Brownells uped the limit....would be nice.

Maybe Brownells finally updated the threshold to $500 in accordance with the change to the ITAR, and that's why some orders are going through.

Can't say why the discounted yours, but I have always been very happy dealing with them

Or not:

Itar regs http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulati...R_Part_121.pdf describes Category 1 firearms section h describes components, parts and attachments. Then in http://www.pmddtc.state.gov/regulati...R_Part_126.pdf subsection 126.5 paragraph b. item 6 references back to the category 1 firearms and states that they need a licence. Which brings us back to 123.16 paragraph b item 2 which states that firearms are exempt from the $500.00 limit and are governed by 123.17 paragraph (a) which caps the export limit for category 1 items at $100.00 wholesale.

I've gone as high as $119 and with my discount I came in under the $100. Mind you I spend quite a bit with them so I think I deserve the discount... ;)

Brownell's easily has the best online gun parts store, no question. Nobody in Canada can touch their inventory, pricing and CS... So what if one $500 order has to be split into 5 orders, the savings wash or sometimes their shipping is only like 4 bucks...

Nah not for me... I rather order from other retailers in the sates that ship to the 500$ limit... So I only get charge 1 shipping cost...

;)
