Norinco M-14

I have a few questions about this firearm before I purchase it
1. What parts would need replacing right out of the box, if any?
1a. Where would the parts be easily found?
1b. What parts should I keep on hand, if any?
2. How difficult is it to modify the 20 round mags to hold 20 if I needed to?
3. What would be the best synthetic stock to get? I was hoping to get a top and bottom pitcanny/weaver rail, pistol grip and collapsible stock.

If there is a thread already containing these answers then just point me in the right direction.
Thanks

Its crime to make a pinned 20 round mag take more 5 rounds.
For the rest look on EE.

I honestly hope you are either a troll, or very very new to this hobby, either way you should already know that the answer to question 2 is you can't, it's illegal to modify your magazine to hold more than 5 rounds in a semi-automatic rifle
I'm a pretty polite guy on here for the most part.
Others are not so much.
If you want answers to questions on this site, you should at the very least know the very basic knowledge you were required to understand to pass your PAL tests......

from my limited experience...
1. I would replace op rod spring, op rod spring guide and rear sights (if yer not using a scope). I would also tighten up the op rod guide (red locktite) and get a few gas lock shims.
1a. They are all over, and what you can't find in Canada, you can order from Brownells (keep it under $100 though).
1b. no idea.
2. no idea
3. I have (and love) the ICR M14S-CQB available from the m14Doctor. This stock is amazing and everyone who see's it wants it. I can't say enough about it.

Wasn't going to modify for use in Canada on question 2. Just if I had to sell to the US or otherwise. Trust me I know the laws. Should've added not for Canadian use in the question I guess. And if I were to know what EE stood for I'd be looking there if you think about it

Its still a crime, you can not modify in Canada.

See rules & faq link for equipment exchange access.

1.If your rifle functions fine then just keep it as is until you REALLY want to tune it. The rifle works fine out of the box. If you want tune it go to a session with the m14doctor and do it right, cause if you want to do it you might as well do it right :)

m14 parts are every where, you can order parts from the states too.

2. I find the whole rail business pointless but if you are into that kind of stuff JAE makes a nice comfortable stock. I would stay away from the Sage international EBR stock, I handled one and I was not very impressed. The thing cost like 600 bucks and adds like 2 pounds to a 9 pound rifle, no thanks

Just buy one you don't have alot to lose, if you really don't like it for what ever reason you can get rid of it fast since its a very popular rifle here in Canada

Don't be a knob and mod your magazines, we all hate it but thats the law and do you really want to be imprisoned for something like that? any ways have fun and be safe

I sold mine... 2007 Norinco, Harris bipod, M14doctor trigger work, camo'd stock. Nice rifle, no issues, but I don't miss it at all. Bought a nice Israeli Mauser with the proceeds, she's a lot easier on the ammo!
