I have a M4gery in 223. The gas port is closer to the chamber than on a regular barrel, so the bolt slams pretty hard. For CQB I use down loaded ammo. easier on the gun, and bullets don't have to go very far.

I am hoping to buy a CSA with the 12" barrel in 223. Anyone know if the placement of the gas port is short?

A violent action is a bummer for Service rifle, where you need to shoot full power ammo. For CBQ is is practical to down load a bit. I start very low and work up until the action cycles, and then add 2 grains for good measure. the reduced load is typically about 5 grains less than a full charge. Just fine for CQB.

If I get one of these CSA rifles I will just use my reduced load M4 ammo, i guess.
