Hi
I'm looking for a rifle or pistol range around toronto that let non-member non- guest shooters to use their facility. I already talked to Oshawa and Galt guys but they said not only they don't allow that, but also their rifle section does not accept new members.
Please help me find a rifle and pistol outdoor range near Toronto.
Thanks

better to buy year membership on place u like rather then daily use...
and the police wont be happy when he pulls you over with pistol and no carry permit to the range you are member at.

How would you get a transportation permit without membership for your restricted?

Guys, Are you kidding ?!
Did you take the Canadian Firearm Safety Course?
First of all here in Canada anybody does not have a carry permit whether concealed or open for a recreational activity (like shooting in a range). The firearm carry is just by law enforcement personnel or for special purposes like protection in wilderness. In Canada you can transport a firearm while it is securely locked and deactivated (for example by taking out the bolt or put a trigger lock or a cable lock through action of the firearm).
Second in Ontario you don't need a ATT (authorize to transport) for non-restricted firearms and in case of a restricted firearm if you join a club and have an ATT gained through that club for your restricted firearm it will work for all the restricted firearms recorded under your name and it is valid for transporting to all legal ranges in Ontario (I'm not sure about ranges out of Ontario).

rooki,

I believe both kimmer82 and I have "passes" our Canadian Firearm Safety Course.
If you are wondering about the answers that seem weird to you I suggest you read the title to your own post.
This is not semantics it is vocabulary

Sorry, still I did not get what you mean?! You didn't read the word range or don't know where is Toronto area?!

Silverdale only has day passes on the weekends, and you will have to show your ATT to be allowed to use a restricted.

For non restricteds there is no issue.

^^^ this is what he means, you posted you wanted to shoot a pistol. you cannot shoot a pistol at a club unless you have a ATT, you will NOT get an ATT unless you are a PAYING member of that gun club which i believe is $240 for a year membership which is pretty cheap for what they offer.

Rooki, you'll find some of the most experienced shooters in Canada on this board. Going off like that is a quick way to the ban hammer.

In simple terms, Silverdale (and many clubs) will allow you to bring your own Non-Restricted & Restricted firearms to their facility and allow you to purchase a day-pass. You must show them your ATT for your restricted firearms. The only way you'll obtain one in Ontario is by being a member of a range already. If you are a member somewhere, and have an Ontario-wide ATT, then Silverdale is a good place. If you don't yet own restricted, or perhaps you have them at home but have no ATT, you must (Yes, MUST) join a Club. The Club will apply for your long term ATT (one that's good for years, not just the 24 hour one to bring it home).

There's no way around this. Myself, and hundreds of others, have tried to get long term ATT's without being a member of a club. The CFO simply will not issue them.

I inquired about purchasing a membership, obtaining my ATT, and then dropping the membership and using day-passes for the next 2 years. "No. We must inform the CFO when your membership expires. The CFO will revoke your ATT."

TL;DR:
Non-Restricted, most clubs.
Restricted-With-ATT, most clubs.
Restricted-Without-ATT, cannot be done.

Noltz,

Thank you. I guess I was not making it plain enough.

Does the Ontario CFO issue Ontario wide ATT's.

Here in Quebec the road map to the Club must be followed, and also a ATT for multiple years is only issued for paid up membership years, 5 maximum.

If we are members to multiple clubs the ATT's are issued for said clubs.

Ontario ATT's are to and from all CFO approved ranges, so assuming the OP has an ATT to a club somewhere in Ontario, and an ATT already, he can come to Silverdale and shoot on a day pass.

Yes, multiple year ATT's are issued in Ontario. Up to the date of expiry of your personal PAL, or the expiry of the Club's license.

And Dirt's right, we should move this to Newbie.

Now I get what you mean, thanks for taking time and answering!
It seems we had a misunderstanding, I have an ATT since I am an active club member but out club is pistol only and has a very limited small indoor range so I'm looking for a club out of the city for occasional use to use Rifle and Pistol both in a wider and more comfortable range and be able to practice action shooting.

FYI The action shooting rage at Silverdale is a members only range. So you wouldnt be able to practice action shooting there on a day pass.
