What's the selection in 28 ga. semi autos?

Particularly a Youth/Compact model. Does anybody make a 28 ga. semi?

Just a suggestion when my daughter started to shoot I cut an old rem small frame stock and put it on a 1100 28ga which did her fine for many years.
She of couse stopped shooting and I had the original stock to put back on so the gun kept it's value.
My self I would not buy a youth only model in a 28ga semi.
If used is of interest there is a nice 1100 28ga in the EE fitted with pro bore threaded chokes.

No youth models but Remington, Benelli and Franchi all currently make a 28 gauge autoloader. As I recall there was a Charles Daly autoloader in 28 gauge too but they aren't very common.

The best one IMO is the Remington 1100. You can either cut the stock or get a youth model stock from a 20 gauge 1100 as the frames are the same size and the 20 gauge stock will fit on a 28.

The Benelli and Franchi are both recoil action guns, are very light and have more noticeable recoil than the 1100. I owned an 1100 to help young and small statured shooters start out. It's a very good gun for the purpose but if you reload 28 you'll find it tosses the hulls a very long distance.

Weatherby has a 28 semi as well. I agree with Macs1 pick up a second stock and cut it then when your young shooter grows up or loses interest you can return the gun to factory configuration and either use it yourself or sell it.

28ga guns are like superx1's you never sell them once you have them

There is a sweet 1100 inn the EE right now.
Looks to be in very nice condition.

Weatherby announced the "Entre Rios" at the 2011 Shot but aren't currently listing the gun on their website. Other forums report the gun is not in production yet. Not sure what the status of it is or if it is available anywhere.

I was not aware of that, even I have been eyeing the 1100 28 in the EE.

I figured if it made it to their website it was in production.

Spoke with Ed himself, the shotgun was in production but sounds like they were haveing some quality control issues and Weatherby has discontinued the shotgun.

From what I understand the 28 gauge Weatherby auto loader was to be made in Turkey.The Charles Daly 28 gauge auto loaders were made there as well as 28 gauge auto loaders for some other companies.They were to the best of my knowledge all just different versions of the same 28 gauge auto loading shotgun.

I have both a Remington Model 1100 and Franchi 48AL 28 gauge .Of the two I perfer the Franchi.
