I was told that 1"Low Talley Lightweights will fit on a VX1 40mm on a model 70.
Will it or should I go medium?
I always run med, but never owned a set of Talleys before!

I'm guessing it'll be some close though eh?
Almost perfect I would think...
Not as close as you think.I run 4 or 5 40mm objective scopes in Talley lows,no problems.Talley says I should be able to squeeze in a 6x42 FXIII,if so THAT will be close! Mur

My experience with the Talley one piece is sometimes the eye piece with the bolt interaction is more of a problem with the low mounts, on my Steyr 450 Marlin BB the medium Talley one piece would not clear the eye piece of my Zeiss 3X9X50 but the front was good... JP.

Yes, that's been my experience as well. Talley lows on a Kimber Montana with a S&B Summit and the bolt handle would hit the rubber power ring on the eyepiece with lots of room to spare btw objective and barrel.
That said, many Euro scopes have a pretty large ocular housing. Leupold's are comparatively small.
Also, make sure it's not too low so you can get a proper cheek weld. That was the other problem on the Kimber set up, so I went to mediums.
