New Federal pistol brass and reloading problems

So I am getting back in to reloading and I go buy a bunch of 9mm 115gr FMJ ammo from the local shop. I fire off a bunch and put it and a bunch of other range 9mm brass that I picked up, through my new (to me) Lee LoadMaster press. Nothing but ass pain! protruding primers, primers cocked sideways; Nothing but grief on the first 50 rounds... It took 3 hours and I destroyed 18 cases and I just about threw the press out the window!
Then I get this wave of clarity and look for a common denominator with the messed up loads. - It seems that Federal is now crimping their primers in factory loaded ammo. I had a whole pile of IVI stuff before and had to swage the primer pockets before reloading it, and it looks like we now have commerically loaded civilian ammo that has crimped primers too...
Just putting this out there in hopes of saving someone else a bunch of frustration...

Weird I haven't came across any crimed primer pockets on 9 mm before. I'll have to watch out for that

The federal 223rem brass(from the factory ammo I shot) was crimped as well. Same with hornady factory 223

Remington doesn't. The only commercial brass I have seen with a crimp is Federal.

I'm going to have to buy some brass from somewhere... I should have added some to the 45LC stuff I ordered today from the Wild West Shooting Center in Edmonchuk.
I wonder why Federal is crimping now ?!?

I had a RCBS primer pocket sizer, but all my reloading stuff is still out west with my soon to be ex wife...

Things must of changed a lot the last few years. Wild West Shooting Center used to have the best prices for reloading components. I stocked up on primers and powder back when they sold them for $22/1000 and $20/lb!

Federal non toxic brass have crimped primers. The regular brass doesn't. The cases are marked FC NT that have crimped primer pockets.

Yeah, when I had my shop in Cold Lake, I would buy 9mm brass for 12.50/1000 and .45 ACP for 40 or 50 bux...

Now that I am out east, I am paying retail and it sucks!!! Wild West charged 90.00 per 500 .45 LC cases!

I saw on Guns and Ammo TV that Federal is doing runs of ammo through the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, that could be the reason for the crimped primers.
