Mounting a Harris bipod on a m14?

I'm new to the m14 (actually with firearms in general), and was wondering how other people have mounted their harris bipods on their m14's.

I was told that I cannot install a stud from harris in the little hole in front of the front sling mount.

how have you guys installed them? pics would be great.

but I was wondering how you actually attach the darn thing to the gun. I have a completely stock Norc 14. I was under the impression you remove the sling mount and go from there?

Is it possible to mount a bipod (such as the one I have linked to a stock without having to buy anything else? I seem to recall pictures of M14's with bipods without small rails

yea, you just drill out the front sling swivel rivet and replace it with a sling swivel stud- READ THE STICKIES- it's been covered NUMEROUS times- there's even PICTURES

Here is the pic's of what I did...

Get a qd stud and a hocky helmet repair kit. Put the mount on the inside of the gas port whole and then the qd stud on the out side and sandwich the two of them between the stock.

I went with the Sadlak as well. Very solid piece, if a person can get their hands on one.

Unfortunately, they don't ship up here anymore. From what I've heard, Sadlak let their export permits expire some time back, and haven't bothered to re-apply. Fabsports used to carry several of Sadlak's products, and they're where I got my QD mount from.

Guys, while it is technically possible, keep in mind that the bbl is not floated, it is attached to the stock, if you mount a bipod then the bbl will torque upwards when you shoot off the bipod. In a resin or aluminum stock the bbl is isolated, but in the standard wooden stock the bbl will be forced upward when you shoot off a bipod
