I've always been weary of .22LR handguns, mostly because they're almost always jam-o-matics. I was one of the very unfortunate people to purchase a first gen Sig Mosquito. After sending it back twice because I couldn't get it to run more than 2-3 rounds at a time using anything other than CCI Mini-Mag solids, they finally (kind-of) fixed it and I sold it off.

So here's where I stand on the Browning 1911-22. This gun is fantastic.

I tested the following:
36 grain CCI Mini-Mag HP
40 grain CCI Mini-Mag Solids
36 grain Federal HP Bulk Pack (blue box, 525 rounds).

Before shooting it, I only inspected the gun and wiped off the excess oil, nothing more. I shot 480 rounds of the above 3 ammunition types and this gun never jammed once! :D

The good?
Extremely reliable with all ammo types (that I tested)
Lightweight
Easy to Disassemble
Solid construction

The bad?
The sights suck
Only one mag included - additional mags are hard/impossible to find
No holsters available for it yet
A little pricey @ $569 for a .22

Here was the best 5 shot group of the day. I was happy with it at 1.3" @ 5M.

It is so small it's hiding behind the calipers..:D

Cool gun with a Great name on it but I can believe how small and light it was when I picked one up. With you eyes closed, it feels like the slide assy is missing.

Are the sights scaled down original Colt 1911 sights and is there anything you can do to improve them?? Still thinking of getting one of them for cheap plinking.

The sights are almost exactly that, scaled down original 1911 sights (black on black). They're pretty tough to pick up, and impossible to pickup against a black backstop (which is what I was shooting against).

I might go and look for some white hobby paint or something and put a drop of it on the front sight. It can't hurt.

Short of the sights being really bad, it's a great gun. I'm thrilled I decided to try it out.

i think the sights are perfect..put a f*&^8 red dot on it,lol! its a gov. 1911!
the price was less than my tu tone mossy , which would only shoot mini mags(as stated in the manual)for the first 700 rnds, then ran fine on several other brands.
i saw mags for them on the rack in gp alta, so they are there....
but i do LOVE my brownings and it is a very welcome addition to the collection.
and yes i sold my mossy too! lol! i just didnt shoot it after getting the 1911-22

Picked one up last week, haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I did see scaled down GI holsters for them at Epps the other week, look just like a WWII GI holster, just smaller.
Glad to here I can expect good things from it.
