My RFB should be here any day now and I want to put a Vortex Viper 1-4x24 on it but I am not sure what mount to get.

I would like to use a LaRue Tactical quick release mount on it but I want to make sure I don't have issues with eye relief.

Or, should I get one of the Vortex cantilever mounts. So far I have found a 2" and 3" but not sure which I would need if I go this route?

i use Burris P.E.P.R mounts on my RFB and Tavor.. its pretty good.

Same here.

Thank you. I think you make have just changed my mind about the A.R.M.S #22 mounts and the LaRue Tactical mounts.

What scope is that though? It looks rather long?

I've done the research already, a 2" cantilever mount with a Vortex 1-4 is what you'll want for the 4" eye relief. American Defense Manufacturing makes the mount Vortex sells but Vortex just adds their logo to it and adds like $20. Target Sports Canada sells ADM mounts and they should be getting a bunch in pretty soon. The model you're looking for is the AD-RECON.

You can order American Defense MFG stuff right from their website.

I would go with the S model (strait up) since the RFB has a fairly long picatinny rail, there is no point to having an excessive cantilever when you don't need it. You can mount it with the levers on the left or right side so it doesn't block the charging handle.

You can get 2 different heights, they have the S (strait-up) and SL (Strait-up - Low) The S is made for an AR15 scope-height above bore, and the S model is more for HK416 type heights, or for bolt guns etc...

The S is 1.47" from rail top to ring centre, and the SL is 1.11" from rail to centreline.

Arms East has the "scout" models in 30mm rings listed on their site (albeit out of stock), but I would go with the Recon (2 locking levers and recoil lugs) just because it's a much more rigid mount to the rail.

For the price on their website, add 20 bucks for international shipping and then about 40 bucks on top of that for duty/GST etc... from the shipping company. Expensive but worth it IMHO.

The cantilever mounts are more expensive than the strait-up mounts, but that's assuming you can get find them in stock.

You could also give Arms East a call and see if they can order one of em in for you on their next shipment since they seem to be a retailer of the ADM stuff.

Awesome mounts by the way! :D

Would you mind sharing a picture?

Sure..

The mount i have on my RFB is actually backwards, the quick detach knobs were on the way of charging handle... but with a 1-4x24 you shouldn't have this issue...

I'm still waiting for a IOR Valdada 1-4x26 to arrive for the Tavor so its scopeless at the moment.. :)

1" mount on RFB, 30mm on Tavor.. you can choose flat top rings or picatinny tops, in case if you want a red dot on top of the scope. And the best part, they go for $100.. Mystic Precision has some.

This is why I love the CGN. I have spent hours searching the web looking for info and on the phone talking to dealer. 1 post here and I get everything I needed.

Thanks all for you input.

Would there be any downside to having a Burris mount on backwards? i know it is maid the way it is for better eye relief adjustment, but if it still works while being backwards, does it really matter?

I thought ITAR was pissy about mounts and such?

They are a licensed exporter and they export to a few different Canadian retailers (Arms East and I think TSE). But a scope mount isn't a major firearm component. Even brownells will ship that sort of stuff up here (without any DSP-83) and they are sticklers for following the regulations. I bought a 250 dollar Volquartsen ruger MkII/III rail system from brownells and they didn't flag it. On the same order I had a set of 20 dollar Falcon Industries Ergo 1911 grips (for the Ruger MkIII 22/45) that got flagged by Brownells because Falcon didn't have an up to date export license. Since the grips were a firearm component (and Falcon didn't have the up to date paperwork) they got cancelled and they were only 20 bucks.

I've bought a couple things from ADM's website and they've been "inspected" before, and never had an issue with that.

The scope on mine is just a Burris fullfield 2 in 3x9x.

With the quick release you don't have to mount it backwards. You can if you want though and many do. The quick release levers while not able to flip sides are able to be adjusted either forwards or back. The way it's set up on mine I don't get any interference with the charging handle. I changed the levers so they face back. The lever is just behind the furthest that the charging handle goes.
