410 guage tactical shotties?

Its true that a 410 delivers less of a payload then a 12ga but a #4 pellet traveling at 1200fps has the same energy whether fired from a 410 or any other gauge. I met a police officer that was shot in the face with trap load from a 12ga. He lost both eyes but still continues to live.
I agree that the 410 is an experts gun especially in skeet.

I do recall seeing what appeared to be an ar platform in 410 semi auto. Ar410 I think it was called. That's about as tactical as you could get.
Whether the 410 is lethal against 2 legged threats or not it is fun to shoot and its different. I wouldn't personally go to war with a 5.56 but our soldiers do

yes, but be sure to fully understand this ahead of time. If you're going to combat anything larger than a herd of armed bunnies, you will be very unhappy with the yield of results for the cash paid out. Poor results, even against gophers, unless they are very close.

Care to go for a walk down range and see about that? I bet ya that even at 75 yards you wouldn't walk away from a .410 slug.

I'd dare anyone to stand in front of a 410 at "in a house" range. Even 1/2 oz #9s will rip a massive hole in a human coming thru a doorway 15' away. Useful much I think so. A smaller payload is much less likely to go thru interior walls and harm an unintended bystander. Less recoil and less weight and also generally smaller frame and over all length add to portability and maneuverability in closer confines such as a bedroom. Is it as effective as a railgun or 20mm antitank round at dispatching unwanted intruders. No but when something goes bad in the night I'd bet my life that some thug wouldn't argue about the ill effects of a 410. A sound of a pump action shotgun slide in the dark is the same universal "you're f*cked" whether its a 410 or a 10ga. Just remember at close range a 22 short is all it takes to kill cattle. I'm not advocating arming oneself for home defense but if someone in my country feels the need to shoot and kill an intruder in their home I support them 100% in their actions

:agree: dont forget you can always slip in a 45 long colt shell .410 has way more muzzle energy than a .22 hello

I was thinking one of these in either .410 or 20ga ht tp://www.mossberg.com/images/Mossberg_Guns/930/NEW/50485.jpg would make a great platform for an HD gun. I would go 20ga myself but that's just me.

I seem to remember a story of a man being shot by a .410 in the chest when he knocked on a the wrong hotel room door, and I dont think he walked away...

why not an 870 Compact Jr in 20ga?
18.5" barrel threaded for chokes, proper 870 receiver with full compatibility with 870 accessories (20ga). thats a 20ga knoxx, but you could use any 870 stock if you simply pick up a $15 ambi sling plate from ebay or canam and spend 10 min on it with a file.
