Easiest way to clear a plugged gas block?

A while back, I threw some parts together into a .22 beater AR. Since I was only ever planning on shooting .22lr out of it, I figured a gas tube would just get clogged and I didn't bother putting one on. Now I miss my my other short AR, decided to trow a real bolg group in it...but the gas block is full of crap. The gast tube needs to go in abou t3/16" farther than it can

I tried knocking the front sight pins out, from the proper side for a RRA, they won't budge. Is there any way I can clean it out well, without taking it off? Open to anything at this point, chemicals, voodoo, virgin sacrifice, I want to shoot real rounds out of this thing.

Thank you in advance.

Can you use a jewelers screw driver to scrape it out?

Are you sure the port is clogged? Did you try shooting it with centerfire ammo?

And what would that prove? It's a single shot at the moment because the gas tube cannot be installed.

You're going to have to remove the front sight. If it did somehow end up severely clogged with lead what would removing the portion forward of the gas tube accomplish aside from being to install the gas tube? You'd still have a possible obstruction in the gas port of the barrel, no way to know until you pull it off.

I don't shoot .22 in my uppers but I find it highly unlikely that you'd have so much build up that it would preclude the installation of the gas tube, something else is probably going on here. FSB or gas tube could be out of spec.

.

True, I'll go fight with it a while longer. Might as well do it right, rather than end up teaching folks at the range some new cuss words when my AR doesn't cycle.

Wipeout works extremely well on softening carbon build up, it's a bore cleaner but works super well on carbon fouling in piston ar's.
