It took some persuading but I managed to get the wife to the range today.Overall she did quite well for never having fired a gun of any kind before today, and I only had to correct her a few times. She put most on the paper and got even better towards the end of the day.The actual distance was closer to 38 feet from the bench to target.Since she was hellbent on NEVER firing a firearm of any kind,I did well to get her to enjoy her day at the range with me,she's now looking forward to another trip soon :D
A few short vids to follow.
I might need some help with the "embedding"? but here are the links.

I took my lovely wife out last week for the first time to shoot handguns. I set up a target at 10 yards and a 2L pop bottle at 20. She shot my Beretta 90-two and G17 and a few rounds into it she decided that the Beretta now belongs to her. Haha.
The best part was that she was less than 3 inches from the bulls-eye most of the time.
Yesterday she made plans for us to go up again in a week. (I thought the guns were mine?)

After a thorough safety brief:

Thanks Pete! :) yeah it was at least a sunny day,the wind was up and the temps hovered somewhere around 11 degrees.

She is getting better with each video, the first one is all over the place..the second much better.
Got to love those hot casings when they get under your clothes.

Yeah she did very well for her first day out,I think I have her talked into getting her RPAL.She already has her eye on that lil pink camo Ruger .22.

The funny thing about today was the fact she didn't want to shoot the Mossberg plinkster, ahh well that will come another day.Overall I'm quite pleased with what she has accomplished today. If our ladies enjoy it,why stop there? We should encourage it more, yes? :D

My girlfriend and I did our PAL course together; she's deadly with a 10/22 and holds her own with my Shadow. I really enjoy having a hobby we can share.

Great to bring out new folks to enjoy the shooting sport.

It's amazing the most hellbent against firearms knows least about them. The preconceived Hollywood image is frightening.

Everyone I've invited to the range are firstly told don't even consider anything Hollywood. A firearm is a precise instrument to be treated with respect; anything else the invitation is withdrawn.

Agreed, and for the most part the other people who attend our range seem to have that same thought in mind.Anyone seen by me to be less than safe are politely asked to move on,an example of that is a "dad" who was shooting steel targets on a 20 yard range which is prohibited at our range for obvious reasons.

Great stuff guys! I must tell you that one day they will out shoot you. So prepare yourself, the crushing is coming!!
I just can't convince my betterhalf to do her own reloading. Oh well.
A saying I coined one day was: One of the best days in my life was out shooting with my wife. She said it was too something(mushy).
Enjoy guys.

Awesome!

It looked like she was having some fun out there. I think she especially liked it when you got that hot brass behind the ear, lol.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO, you didn't, say you didn't let her into the MAN CAVE. Girls can do all the shooting they want. The MAN CAVE is sacred :D

hahaha, yes it was hot and that may have been her personal highlight of the day. I thought it was just me being a lefty shooter that allowed the brass to make contact,I had a good chuckle of my own when that hot brass made contact with her cleavage. haha

LOL good job Winchester.

My wife only comes out about once a year but the best part about wifes coming out and enjoying it is the phone calls after.

After every time at the range. All I ever here is my wife saying to her friends. "I LOVE HANDGUNS" :D

So how do you get your wife to go with you? My wife's family is, I won't say anti, more along the lines of look down the nose at firearms owners as pickup driving rednecks. I got her to look through a scope once, and she held a Walther p22 in the mancave once, but zero interest in going to the range. My main objective is to lower her fears so when the little guy is old enough I can take him to the range.

It took some serious effort on my part.At first she wouldn't even touch the gun, unloaded and proven clear,in fact she didn't even lay a hand to it until yesterday. She comes from a family of hunters and that's where their firearms understanding ends, although her father thought my AR was a "nice gun" he had no interest in firing it.I don't think the anxiety will last forever, and I think that if you explain that there are other women who also enjoy our sport then she will bend a bit.Yesterday she was able to meet a couple of the wives and after talking to them she began to realize that it's ok to like firearms. There were no horror stories,no catastrophic end to the day and all went well :)
