Hey guys...

Lately i'd been eying up a .17 HMR. I just wanted one. Well, i'd seen a mossberg 817 with the composite thumbhole stock here for around 225.00, and basically told the guy id take it, but hadn't "officially pulled the trigger on it yet".

So, i did a bunch of research on it, and i really didnt like what i saw. There were alot of complaints about the action, and especially the trigger. Overall it just looked cheap, too cheap.

Well i went to "The City" with the wife and kid for spring clothes for the kid. I bumped into a buddy, and we took off on our own. I went to Cabella's and Wholesale sports. I ended up finding a Marlin XT-17V there, with the real wood stock, Bull barrel, and Accutrigger ;-) Got the rifle for a mere 239.00! Also picked up a Bushnell Trophy XLT 3-9x40 scope with the DOA 250 reticle, that ran me 149.00.....

Then i headed over to Cabella's because Wholesale didnt have scope rings! Well, i ended up getting Leopold 1" rings, and a Tasco Varmint/Target 4x16x40 with the virtual zone reticle... they had that on sale for 99.00, and it was an open box item, so i got another 10 bucks off it. Thats the one i opted to mount on the gun for now... ;-) Now i need a bipod for sure! that barrel is HEAVY.

I have a 10/22 Nomad/Marauder im buying from a member here, and i think i may end up putting the Bushnell on that, as the Bushnell is alot shorter then the tasco, although the Bushnell's reticle has alot finer lines, and prolly would end up better on the .17

I also bought a couple .17 CAL. bore brushes, a rod, and patches so ill give it all a good cleaning tonight, and get it ready for the maiden day tomorrow! I have 3 boxes of ammo to play with, Some Hornady, Some Remington, and some Winchester..... Good times!

So, now im ITCHING to shoot this thing! That AccuTrigger feels so cool! Im glad i changed my mind, and decided to pay a couple more dollars, and get a much better gun!

Ginnz!
