hey everyone. im curious to know about the sr 22 hand guard. is it replaceable? for example if i wanted to get a lighter hand guard? if anyone knows please help a brother out haha.

P.S if it is replaceable what hand guards fit it?? thanks alot.

No, they mount differently.

From my understanding they will.

Any "free float" rail with barrel nut will mount onto the Nordic Chassis. The problem you will run into is finding a top rail that will match the scope rail of the Upper Nordic Chassis that Ruger uses for the unit. You could even mount a Delta Ring assembly and a handguard, but again you run into the height issue for the scope rail.

I would recommend the Dlask Short Handguard as mentioned above. I have used that set up on two SR22's and am very pleased with the fit and finish of the products from Dlask.

jt_trouble is there a big weight difference ? im also thinking of that set-up... I have the dlask rails right now and find the 10/22 front heavy

Very little ... your talking a couple ounces maybe. I didn't even notice much before or after installation once I got all the rails and other tacticool goodies attached.

EDIT: I have the Dlask Short HG with all Rails installed, a .920 16.5 with Birdcage and a rail mounted front site ... the balance is good IMHO.

My first setup had a Magpul UBR with the short HG and 12.5" .920 ... worked well for the way I carried and shouldered my rifle. Balance was slightly to the rear. Current set up is with a 16.5 and the overall balance is good.

I think you will be fine ... you'll have to try it and find out. I went through many setups on my first build before I settled on what I wanted. Many pesos thrown into a project I could have built two :D

My second build, I think I know what I want and it started with a Dlask Short HG set up right off the bat ... lol

ruger sent me a letter stating "We would not have information regarding the aftermarket products. Thank you for your inquiry."

i dont know what to do, i dont really want to fork out $150- $200 on a hand guard and it not fit.
