Hey,

Thinking about buying a Rem 700 AAC-SD .308 and just wondering what peoples thoughts and experience is with the rifle?

Thanks

Great Rifle, buy one. The stock can be modified, but I'm already shooting 0.7 MOA Out of it with the stock. I would replace the trigger it comes with first with a Timney, and make sure you have a good optics set-up. The stock would be the last thing I personally would replace.

Don't worry about the Hogue stock; out of an SPS-AAC, I got .400" or so consistently, and it kept them under 1.5" at ~340 yards with factory ammo.

I use a sandbag or a backpack, inconsistent groups with the Hogue are largely due to overtorqued bipods & shooter shortcomings.

The AAC is a solid platform. I would start looking for a used HS Precision stock. That’s a relatively cheap and quick way to upgrade it. The OEM stock may be fine, but once you start shooting off barriers and loading bipods it will flex. Depending on your expectations, a stock upgrade is a quick way to improve the rifle’s consistency. I would switch the stock before the trigger. Trigger would be second on my list.

Don’t skimp on rings and rail. You only buy them once…

1:10 twist.
And the ability to use a brake/flash hider if so desired, without paying extra for the barrel to be threaded by a 'smith.

Astonishingly, a reasonable answer. Refreshing.

My Savage 308 has a 1:10" barrel too, but at least there are valid reasons behind the AAC.

heres mine...LOVE IT

what model is the surefire brake? I was looking at them from Brownells. With the pre threaded barrel it will just thread on won't it?

I have the mb762ssal which required part of the barrel to be lathed down as the mb hides nearly 2" of the barrel

If yougo with the mb762k....it looks like it will just screw on (I have the mb556k screwed onto my 10.5" ar)

All surefire breaks are secured with shims and rockset glue
