Best Hand Load 308 Win

Wondering if any one can give me an insight on the best hand load for the 308 Winchester

I am planning to hunt medium-large game animals but also want the best trajectory possible.

Right now I am using 150 grain speer hot core with 45 grains of IMR 4895.

Load some 168 TSX's as fast as your rifle will safely allow with H4895 or Varget.

150 grain Accubond with 46 grains of varget. Reduce and work up.

My favorite all around .308 has been a 165 grain Nosler Partiton ahead of 45.5 grains of Varget.

I am getting around 2800 feet per second with the current load. So add some more powder. Around 2 grains?

Each barrel is different.. go test bunch out but with 308 any fast burning powers will do i believe.
For me i use 180 grains with h4350 for big game hunt here and it's been working fine for me.

Nothing wrong with hot-cor's for the budget minded hunter, that's for sure.

Personally I prefer 165gr boattails in the 308, but they only really shine compared to 150 grain spitzers out past 300 yards.

BTW, I sent my dad out hunting with the same exact load the OP is using, and he loved them on barren ground caribou at reasonable ranges. Two one shot kills, and the freezer was full of fine tasting meat!

Here is the most fool proof reloading recipie on the planet, and it works for any rifle out there.

-Go buy 2 or 3 different powders suited for the cartridge in question.
-Go buy at least 2 different bullets you think might work for the given application.
-Source up some brass (all the same head stamp)
-Pick up 2 different primers suitable for the application.
-Go to at least 3 sources of bonifide reloading data.
-Read the begining couple chapters in a reloading manual or 2
-Work up loads in your rifle.

If you follow this to the tee, I'll guarantee you excellent results.

In other words no one can tell you what will work in your rifle, therefore go do some load development..your shooting skill will advance proportionally to the time spent behind the trigger.

As above, asking for someones pet recipe is pretty well a waste of time. Make the effort to "tune" a load for your specific rifle - its not a lot of work, and you will realize some enjoyment from the process.

42grs Varget and 165gr bullet (Rem CL) or 43.5grs Varget and 168gr Nosler BT.

Your current load sounds good to me. There is nothing wrong with a 150 grain bullet at 2800 fps muzzle velocity. If the load is accurate then I would just keep on using it, unless you like to play around.
