Went to the farm today to shoot my new Savage 10 FCP-K .223 for the first time.

Rifle setup: Burris Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm mildot, Picatinney Base, Burris Medium Z rings and a Shooter's Ridge 14-29" bipod.

Also first time using Eberlestocks latest "Gunrunner" pack and integral rifle scabbord.

Ammo:

American Eagle 55 gr FMJ( for barrel fouling and getiing scope dialed in.)
Hornady 53 gr Superperformance
Hornady 55 gr V Max
Federal 69 gr Matchking

Laser range finder: Nikon 440

Wind was 12.30 MPH and about 10 degrees left off of a full headwind.
Temperature was 3.47 C or 38.26 F
Density Altitude was 903.50 ft.
Barometer 30.05
Humidity 43.2%

The first 9 rounds of American Eagle 55 gr FMJ was used to foul the barrel and rough in the scope @ 25 yds.
Next I moved to 100yds.

The next 6 rounds was Hornady 55 gr V Max and was used to fine tuned the scope @ 100 yds.

The next 6 rounds was Hornady 53 gr Superperformance and were centered but high @ 100 yds

The next 6 rounds was 69 gr MatchKing and closer to POI of the V Max.

Then I moved the target to 200 yds which put me almost 90 degrees to the wind.

Fired 3 rounds of 55 gr V Max and group was low, but was centered and was inside 3/4"@ 200 yds. I was extremely pleased.:D

Fired 3 rounds of 53 gr superperformance and group was centered but high and was inside 2" with a called flyer that made it 2 1/2-2 3/4".

The final 3 rounds was 69 gr Federal MatchKing and grouped inside 1 1/2"@200 yds. I was well pleased.:D

For a brand new out of the box rifle, shooting off of a bipod, factory ammo and me, in the wind, I was extremely pleased.:D:D

I can now slowly retire my old .243 yote gun.

extremely jealous!

this rifle is eating at my soul trying to find and get a .308! its becoming silly. i want to turn it into a camo rifle. ATACS all over it and a nice millett scope on also. might even treat myself to a bigger brake. who knows. but sweet rifle.

nice rifle bag too, i had a simliar one for my L85A2. is that guille?

sniper in the making ;)

Williams Arms Port Perry has it in .308 for $850.
Yes a ghillie, my 4th. My old one I made a hundred yrs ago and two more I keep in the States.
The one in the picture is for yotes in winter here when snow is gone.

Thats a nice rifle. Looks like it shoots good too.

Where did you buy that pack from? I like it.

The pack is Eberlestock "Gunrunner". I got mine from ebay as it was a seller closer to Ontario than the manufacturer in Idaho.

That rifle nude weighs 10.2 lbs. rigged out its @ about 14 lbs. and the "Gunrunner" makes long hikes across fields easier when coyote hunting.

Cheers

Another one of those un-accurate Savages. Congrats. Makes me want to go reload some ammo.

It's really nice. But it's 200 bucks more and has no muzzle b. so I don't know... I'm tempted though.

When I guided clients on hog hunts, I refused any with a rifle/pistol that had Bosses/Brakes due to safety.

Shooting where one is alone or far away from another person is fine.

Sooo... brake or no brake is a personal choice considering what I mentioned above about proximity to other shooters.

The weight of this rifle rigged out, with no recoil and muzzle brake makes it a pleasure to shoot and you can instantly see the paper holes or the dirt splashes in the scope.

However Savage has come out with a "Precision Carbine" I believe for 2012.
Seems like it is a 20" threaded barrel.

Yeah I don't know now. I'm stuck between the two. The muzzle brake is a good feature and I shoot alone. So no issues there. Thanks for your advice!!
