I am looking at getting a new Coopper modle 52 excaliber in 35 Whelen. Just wondering if any of you have had Coopper before, good bad luck with them. How is the detach mag?
Mine will be a Olive green stock with a blued barrel and reciver.
Any input would be great.

i have an excalibre in 280. very accurate with almost any thing you feed it. a little on the heavy side and the stock could be a little trimmer but all in all well worth the money. the detachable mag is very good. when installed it looks more like a floor plate than a mag. one of the nicest i have used. no rattles , fits well and feeds well. i will be buying another in the near future. i like the new olive colour better than the red webbing.
 
I've got a Classic in 30-06. Its a solid feeling gun the works flawlessly and shoots well enough to meet the accuracy warranty but stops a bit short of being magic.

I liked it enough to order a Western Classic in STW. Its supposed to have the magic included.
 
Another 30-06 model 52 owner here. Nice and heavy, comes with decent wood and plenty accurate. Magazine rattles slightly when empty, but once it's full of cartridges it loses the looseness.
No regrets...
 
We have two in the safe and one other on the way. The magazines are top quality where they are made out of 100% steel.........no plastic. Both shoot under 1/2 inch, and I'm sure that the third one as well.
 
I have owned seven Coopers, with another one on the way. I prefer them slightly over Sako, and by a wide margin over a similarly priced Weatherby.
 
I just ordered an excalibur in 30-06 with stainless action and barrel from Prophet River. I'm a little nervous never having handled one but all the reviews on this site sold me. I stayed with the black/red rather than the olive to save $$. It will be a hard 3-4 month wait so I look forward to more reviews of these rifles.

Don't worry! They are a fine firearm with many qualities. To date we did not have one issue with our Coopers where everything went perfect. We have them in the walnut stocks, therefore I cannot state anything about their synthetic's, however they are a heavy firearm which I just love handeling.........rock steady on the range and field.
 
I held a classic (again) the other day in .308. Very nice fit and finish, the stock design is solid and the barrel contour is appealing. In wood I believe they are worth the money. In synthetic, I would be tempted, but they are out to lunch in the price department. The stainless, that price just ain't happening for me.
The single stack magazine and the weight (on the long actions) don't do much for me either.
They do shoot though! I seen that with my own eyes. But then gain so do Savages and Marlins so I that is all that counts......
 
I was out today and took this pic of my Model 38. It's the handiest little truck gun and fun to shoot.

No youth rifles, however a Model 54 in the Excalibur would be a choice. They are chambered for the 243, 260, 7mm-08, etc. Priced at $2,000.00 not unless you can find a used one.
