I went and picked up my new rifle today and off to the range I went. I shot several brands of ammo through it for a total of maybe two hundred rounds.

For a sight I was using an old Vortex Strikefire with the three times multiplyer and most of my shooting was at fifty yards. I was extremely pleased with the rifle and considering the red dot has a two MOA dot I was potting twenty shots within three or four inches.

Now I have some questions. I hate the magazines and want to get the mag adaptor so I can use LAR magazines. Is Wolverine still doing this? If not who is? Is it something I can do myself if I get a kit? Where can I get metal AR magazines or LAR mags and couplers?

Enough questions for now but thats my biggest gripe. The crappy mags. I had a couple of failures to eject/spent casing getting stuck between bolt and breech. Man can this rifle fling brass.lol

pics pics!

.223 or 7.62x39? this will determine what adapter can be used.

csa makes the .223 one that takes AR 15 mags, and B&T make the adapter that uses XCR micro pistol mags

5.56.
The collapsable stock is crappy and rattles, si I will probably change that as well as the handguard that I believe from a long ago thread will melt under lots of quick shooting. I have a left over from when I was tricking out my 858.

I'll take pictures tomorrow.
Is anyone selling the conversion kits and can you install yourself? CSA kits that is?

for the magwell adapter? can't recall for sure, I either got mine from TSE or Lanz.
Super easy to install.

From your statement about the collapsable stock, I imagine you have the sporter model with the beaver barf furniture? If so, I can see why you dont like the mags. My .02, if you plan on upgrading the furniture, the mags dont look so out of place. Nea handguards on mine with fab pistol grip and butt stock, and the mags suit the rifle quite well (at least the smoke-coloured ones, plain black ones look like s%!t)

As far as durability goes, I have had no issues with them cracking (used and dropped on concrete down to -20) I have had 5 or so misfeeds in which the round was not fed upwards enough and drove the bullet into the casing against the feed ramp/barrel face (all with AE ammo, no such issue with the hornady steel match I use now). They start to get a little scratched, but so do the steel mags...

did vz58's ever come with beaver barf? the mags are plastic too arent they?

the CSA kit is drop in install, unless you have one of the receivers that need to be machined. In which case you will get free machining and free adapter from CSA.

Sorry for no pics.
I had her out to play again today. Hundreds of rounds through her and not a hic up. Mags had a hard time feeding sometimes though with the first round.

No beaverbarf furniture. It came with a collapsable shtouck and black plastic handguard that I switched out for a Fab handguard that I had left over from my 7.62x39 project. Fit with no issues.

I am still astounded by the accuracy of this platform, in a good way, especially with a red dot. Have to find a small scope for it now. Rifle ejects ten feet straight up in the air. Has a huge blast of flame when shooting also. Comments were made, so I let someone else shoot it and I stepped back and watched. Would be pretty cool at dusk

Curious here, just trying to figure out what rifle you have. You mentioned the sporter (18.6") but it sounds like you have the carbine (11.8"). Glad you're having good luck with it at least, I've just hit 2000 through mine and love it!
