Best Resource To Start Reloading

My Dad and I want to start reloading, but we're not entirely sure where to start.

Can you recommend any good websites or books to get us started?

as for the best souce of infor, pick up 2 or 3 relaoding books and start reading, make sure one of them is "the abcs of reloading" watch videos and read... i taugh my self to reload with nothing more then youtube and the steps found on rcbs website, its really not that hard to learn

as far as equptment, since you and your dad are doing it together i recoment to pool your money and buy nice stuff to start! RCBS is sort of the chev 350 of the relaoding world, there is better and worse, but they are easy, reliable and available almost every where.

are you goin to be loading pistol, rifle, both? some presses will do pistol only, a single stage is great for low volume rifle but takes forever to do pistol. So give us a bit more information and we'll be able to help more

im not sure why so many people make it seem so complicated..

it literally is

size/deprime
trim, chamfur / debur
reprime
powder charge (correct weight obviously)
seat bullet to correct / desired OAL


any thing after that is, load tuning, experimenting, more advanced stuff. but the basics to start are simple

I would agree that you should start off with a copy of The ABCs of Reloading. It's a large paperback, well-illustrated and will give you a sound basic introduction to reloading, including shotgun shell, casting bullets and so on. It's rather short of 'recipes' but it's a very good resource and should answer many of your questions.

Once you've digested that a bit, your path will be quite a bit clearer.

ABC's is a good one, Lyman manual, buy the bullet manual you want to use to start with after the ABC or Lyman.
The RCBS kit comes with a better scale than the Lee, some of the accessory tools may be a bit nicer. An RCBS hand primer tool is good, Lee you have to buy shell holders for.
Plenty of vids on You Tube you can watch to see how tools are used, may help you decide which ones you may like.

I was thinking of going with this Hornady starter kit from Cabela's:

Anyone have any experience? It seemed good from the reviews and videos I saw and I like their quick-change die system.

I'm also considering this RCBS kit:

It costs a fair bit more, but comes with more.

There's nothing more expensive than an costly something that isn't quite good enough. I know I bought a fairly substantial kit from RCBS and am still using 90% of it.

this is essentially the set up im useing, of course cabela didnt have this kit when i got into it so im into mine for substantially more $ other then dies and components u can reload every thing except .50bmg, sure its a bit more, but its all stuff you will "wish" you had after a few months

I started by reading the Lyman manual a few times. Bought my gear, set it up, watched some videos of the same setup in use. Asked questions here and on Brian Enos forums. Went really slow. Built a bunch of dummy rounds to get things right. Easy enough to learn if you take your time.
