advice on a "cowboy" gun

Definitely nothing wrong with the Model 1875 Remington - my pair are my favourite single action revolvers (of a total of seven, all chambered in .45 Colt) - their distinctive appearance adds to their charm -

Mind you, these aren't quite "stock" ..... I always liked the look of lanyard rings on original Model 1875 Remington revolvers (the majority of which were made with a lanyard ring) but none of the modern reproductions have ever been offered with that feature, to my knowledge. However the reproduction Model 1890 (Remington's unsuccessful attempt to bolster revolver sales by making their handgun look more like a Model 1873 Colt) was made with a lanyard ring, so I purchased two repro Model 1890 lanyard ring assemblies as "spare parts" and installed them on my 1875's .....

Ever notice how there never seems to be any "1875 love" for Remington's in these threads ?....;)...

What?:D

My antique 1875 in 44 Remington is definitely one of my most ejoyable guns to shoot

And certainly one can't omit a good ol' S&W Scofield when thinking cowboy gun

Just got to meet Walter Ostin when I was referred to him for a shotgun belt for CAS. Class act and interesting as hell to talk to. Wish I would have asked about buying my belt and holsters locally. He definitely does great work.

"If I had your budget, I'd definitely be looking at US Firearms. I believe they make the most authentic Single Action Army/Model P. They occupy Colt's original plant in Hartford and employ many of the same methods Colt used in the 19th C. Have a look at the link below and see what's available. I'm sure there's dealers in Canada.

Sad to say , but US Firearms is no longer making them.
