Shorten PAL Approval Times

28 days of mandatory waiting perion is included in average 45 days processing time. Basically all this says that you at no circumsatnces will get your license before 28 days expired, but should expect it within 45 days.

Another thing to remember is that they count 45 days starting from the day they received your stamped results (obviously, in Ontario). it simply means, if your application is incomplete, they will do nothing with it untill you supply all missing information.

Thanks for the info, looks like I got about another month to go! :(

This is incorrect. They start counting from the day they receive your application, even in Ontario. ;)

Counting what? 28 days mandatory waiting time - yes. 45 days of processing time - than No, that starts since they got a complete application, which includes stamped results.

That what I was told at CFO office last week. it was a surprise and little disappointment for me as well. Basically, the message was - do not start worrying until after 45 days since a COMPLETE application is received by CFC is expired. As I said you may be lucky and get your license well within whatever 45 days.

I am not disagreeing with your post.

If you reread my post, I was disagreeing with when they start counting the days. They start counting when the application is received, NOT when the stamped results are received.

Well, it seems to be that even goverment has some sort of flexibility we usually aren't use to seeing from them.

They DO accept my request to amend my NR PALapplication over the phone by including restricted firearms. According to them, as long as the application is not approved, you have a freedom to change it. I was lucky in a way that my application was sitting at CFO desk for approval, so they were able to withdraw it back to CFC with a remark "waiting for additional information". Which is in my case stamped RPAL test results.

I'm surprised to hear that, but good for you. There are numerous posts in this thread that demonstrate little if any flexibility on their part. You obviously spoke to the right person. ;)

So both of my references called in on the 25th and I am yet to be approved. I read that some people got approved 3 days later or earlier. Should I call in or still wait? In Ontario BTW

My better half had the last of her references call in on March 15th. Her status still hasn't changed either. I told her to call but she says that she can just wait, she's not in any hurry because I already have the firearms.

Mine was approved in about 2 to 3 hours after the last interview. :D

I would call if I were you.

I sent a photocopy. In fact, the instructor recommended that we send photocopies because they've been known to lose applications and test results from time to time, so it probably wouldn't be a good idea to send the originals because of that.
Yeah they told me that too but a few people have told me otherwise but I'm assuming the photocopies will do. Thanks alot!

Not sure if anybody else is waiting for their PAL in Ontario, but I completed my test on February 22nd and I am still waiting for my stamped grades so I can fax them in. I called to check on the progress of my test results, and I got an answering machine telling me they are backlogged with paper work. Anyone else experiencing this?

I was told to send photocopies by the instructor, as well. I had the same question still in my mind so I called the CFO and specifically asked them. They said to send copies. I suppose this makes sense as I believe they also get a copy from the instructor when he submits his paperwork.

Ontario CFO are being zealous with me.

Courses taken: October 28, 29, 30, 2011
Application Received on: 2011/12/02
I was interviewed December 21
1st Ref interview Jan 11, 2012 only after I called, asked for status, and was advised by a helpful person at RCMP to have my references call in.
2nd Ref Interview Jan 12, 2012

Still waiting for CFO to approve me. I called 2 weeks ago, and the supervisor asked me if there was a rush. She told me it would be at least 3 more weeks, so I'll wait until next week before I check again.

It's been almost 5 months...Maybe I should consider a different hobby! In all seriousness, it is a tad frustrating given my low tollerance for waiting for things to happen, but I'm glad the CFO Ontario is doing their job to ensure they aren't putting a gun in the hands of a criminal. For that, I can wait.

Just got a call from Ontario CFO after leaving a polite message on Friday, and they have approved my application. The website immediately showed:

Application Received on: 2011/12/02

Current Status: Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre Toll Free number. (1-800 731-4000)

See you on the range, boys.

Huh, so the reason why my app hasn't been approved yet was one of my references "didn't complete their interview". So either the CFC messed up or my friend is lieing, wtf? Welp, time to get to the bottom of this!

I need to send my RPAL test results to Miramichi, but not sure at which address. is this the one?

Central Processing Site
PO BOX 1200
Miramichi NB E1N 5Z3

Once I received a mail from RCMP requesting a missing information (at that time it was NR test results). There was a return envelope included with the address on it. Donn't remember now which one was that.

Please help - do not want to send this precious document to a wrong place.

Thanks!

Why don't you fax (1-800-411-0622) it in?
