Hi guys,

So i just bit the bullet and ordered my first AR. Pretty excited, and looking forward to getting down to the range. Already got a case of ammo to break her in.

My question to you guys is this. I love the look of a fake Surpressor on an AR. I know it will likely just make it louder, and many think it's pointless and mall ninja, but aesthetically I love it. I know Questar and Fab Sports used to sell them, but neither have anything on their sites to-date. So where would a guy find one of these?

Using the search engine I see some people recommend red wolf airsoft. Is it safe to fire live rounds through and airsoft accesoory? If so, what would the "thread" be on a norinco 10.5" upper?

If any of you have photos of your fake surpressor, or awesome looking flash hiders PLEASE post them for me.

Lastly! Please do not let this turn into a long winded debate about whether or not a fake surpressor is an illegal device. We have lots of threads on that, and thats not what I am asking.

Many thanks,
PC81

Don't worry about looking cool, rather then getting a useless piece of metal I suggest you spend you efforts on lobbying to legalize real suppressors.

Haha, okay. I knew that was coming, just didn't think it would be the first two posts... I agree gentlemen, we deserve the right to legally use sound surepssion for the sake of hearing loss if nothing else. I have signed petitions in the past, and I am happy to do my part as we continue OUR legal battles into the future.

Never-the-less, I now have a AR beater for range use, and I do like the look of it. So until such time that I can legally own a surpressor and not go to jail and lose my PAL, I wouldn't mind it for aesthetic purposes.

Lets face it, until AR's are de-restricted they are just range guns anyway. If this were my hunting rifles, or competition rifles I would not add 1 ounce that I didn't have to. But as for hanging at the range, it doesn't bother me

I picked out a gemtech outback II fake .22 suppressor threaded in standard AR thread for around $60. was going to put it on a ruger i was gona make but decided to go a different route.

Im in the process of building an AR with a dedicated .22 upper and i cant wait to get it on. :)

On a side note i think i remember reading that the inner diameter was big enough on it to use it on a .223, i will deffenetly check before shooting anything through it though.

Ill see if i can get pictures when i get home.

Dunno how threads on that subject got long winded.... a fake suppressor doesn't decrease the noise from the firearm, therefore not a suppressor therefore not illegal.

Gonna take a better argument than hearing loss to get suppressors legalized. If you're shooting on the range you can wear hearing protection as people have done during decades. And if it's the hunting argument, well... you're not firing that many rounds. I'm not against legalizing suppressors just pointing out the flaws the antis will surely point out.

NO, wear hearing muffs while you drive. A suppressor is no different than a muffler the health and safety aspect of it is what will get them legalized. However every thread created to make a push for their legalization gets locked by greentips.

No matter how "cool" a fake can may look on the OP's gun it will only make him look like that much more of a TOOL.

I appreciate your input man, but if you got a negative opinion, keep it to yourself.

Lots of guys on here are running the fake can, and hell, why not. It's just a range beater anyway. It's a restricted gun that you can't do anything with other than go to the range. There's not much practical about the gun in the first place.

Range gun = Fun
Fake can = Fun

Whats the issue....

Fixed it for you, again if you don't have a problem looking like a tool go ahead. It's like the guy that pops his collar, tells the girl he likes twilight, or puts a big honking spoiler and fart can exhaust on his '92 Civic to try and pick up girls telling them it will make it go faster.

Don't get your panties in a bunch because you don't like what others have to say.

I really cannot see the fun in having a non-functional blob on the end of the gun. Adds bulk and weight with nothing to show for it. Of course, if enough bells, whistles and bobbleheaded dolls are hung on a quadrail, it'll blend right in.;)

Anyway, if you want a fake can, don't get something that extends beyond the end of the barrel. Think of two discs and a tube. The front disc is threaded to screw on to the muzzle. 1/2-28 in all likelihood.
The rear disc, of the same diameter, is bored to slip back over the barrel, as close to the front sight base.gas block as possible. A thin aluminum tube fits over the discs. Appearance of a can on a short barrel, with minimal weight, and the overall length doesn't change.
Got a friend with a lathe?

I am not getting my "panties in a twist". All I am pointing out is, I asked a question, and despite your numerous posts you have not really given any positive input or help answer said question.

Your opinion is your opinion, I respect that. All I ask is the same in return.

Wow... Seriously you guys... Its his money; what he does with it or your opinion on his desired purchase is not your concern. If you dont like them, dont put them on your own rifle. Otherwise stop trolling the poor guy when all he wanted was some info.

Well, I have been looking around at different flash hiders to see what I like. I found the Spikes Tactical Dynacomp, and love the way it looks. Anyone know if these are avaliable in Canada? As far as I know Questar is the only spikes tactical dealer, but not seeing them in their inventory.

Anyone tried one of these?

Thanks JCoulson :)

I wasn't asking what anyone thought of them, I was just asking where I could find one. I don't mind if people express their thoughts, but lets not get derailed.

Haters are going to hate... it's your gun, do whatever makes you happy with it. Paint it pink and purple if you like and blast away.
