blr in 358win

They are junk.....

BLR or BLR 81?

Just the usual stuff.
Does the action/lever work/swing properly?
Cracks in the wood.
Rust in and out.
How heavy is the trigger?
With a bit of luck, it has been worked on.
Do you get to examine it or is it delivered by stork?
Great rifle.
BLR has the belly mag or the mag protrudes.
The BLR 81 has an almost flat mag.
Take down would be a bonus for resale on your part.

I just picked up a BLR 81 in .358 right before Christmas. It currently wears a Leupold VX-R 2-7x33. I find everything about this gun to be incredibly smooth, I couldn't be happier with it. Try searching the Hunting/Sporting Arms forum if you haven't already. There are some good threads on this gun that might be of interest. Like 'looky mentioned, just look out for the usual. Try to determine which model BLR it is for value sake.

lever works very well, no cracks in the wood, just the normal hunting wear, no rust, maybe a 100rds down the pipe, trigger feels heavy, the mag i flush with the action, comes with 80 rds of ammo, for $600 how can i say no

There is one on a site sponsor.......Del Selin.
He is selling a used one and it is advertised with photos.
Might be a good reference.
Superfuddcub had one for sale a while back.
He might chime in with a bit of prodding?

With the ammo included, that's a pretty good deal.

Sold it to a fellow I work with. Nice rifles, but I'm not a lever guy.

Seems like a good deal. That ammo is worth $100 or more.

I'd buy it for sure.

Heck, I'll give you $600 for it with 80 pieces of BRASS instead of ammo.

But can you do it more then once? Lol. 358 BLR's are good hunting rifles, and generally will give you sporter bolt action rifle accuracy in a lever gun. I have one, don't use it much anymore, but it was a truly great woods gun, including a few decent cut line shots. I still prefer the 99 in the same caliber, but the BLR is a more practical hunting gun, I believe. - dan

Nope, only once, there is nothing but tiny bits left of the ball! :p I too have a BLR in 358 that I rarely use. I usually grab a milder cal BLR like the 257 Roberts and or 7mm-08. Ole Aurther Writus does not allow me to cycle the action on 99's anymore. I sure do love the BLR's.

I got a BLR in .308 win and it's a great gun. Trigger is a little on the heavy side. My first rifle and its great! For $600 bucks, that s a great price IMO.

well i got my blr in 358 win last night, with 60 rounds of 200gr silvertip ammo and 40 pcs of once fired brass, who makes 358 ammo other than winchester

You can. Time to start with the reloading program.
Fun and easy.
Then you and your new buddy can have some good quality time together
at the range and have some $ for your favorite cocktails too.

I was told that Winchester only makes it every X number of years, so when you see it on the shelf, it's that year, stock up! or better yet, get into reloading.
