Hello,

This is my first post on GGN. I would like to know if anyone knows of any dealers in Canada that still have the Tactical Innovations TI 25 magazines available. I did a search and the only thread that I came up with is this one from a banned dealer from Winnipeg:

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=493494

I also e-mailed the makers at tacticalinc.com to see if they had any Canadian dealers, since their contact page states that they don't ship to Canada or internationally. I figured that they might still ship directly to dealers in Canada though. I'll wait and see what they say and post the response here for anyone interested.

If anyone knows of Canadian dealers, I would appreciate the information. The reason that I ask is because my Butler Creek steel lips magazine is a really terrible fit on my SR-22 and it I get a lot of double feeds and stoppages. It's probably because the Butler Creek has so much play and different feed lips than the Ruger rotary magazine.

Thanks.

I was able to find some additional information at the bottom of their product page for the advanced composite version of the ti 25 magazine. It seems that they are willing to ship to distributors in Canada and internationally.

http://www.tacticalinc.com/ti25trad...le-steel-magazine-rugerreg-1022reg-p-532.html

Here's an excerpt:

"INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS (INCLUDING CANADA): At present, we will not ship internationally, no exceptions. DISTRIBUTORS ONLY (no retail purchasers) in other countries that are interested in stocking and selling TI25 magazines in their country are encouraged to contact us. You will have to coordinate the export through a US broker in order to receive mags. International shipments are a minimum of 250 pieces."

Hopefully there is already a Canadian distributor and dealers, and if not maybe this will arouse some interest in them to pick up the ti 25. The product seems to have a very good reputation and it is adjustable for a tight fit with different 10/22 chambers.

I wonder if there are any restrictions to making something similar ourselves in Canada? I'm a digital modeller for a living, so I'd love to model one and have 3d prints made and then do some molds of them. I don't know how hard it would be to find a shop to do the steel lips though. Would the Canadian firearms centre have to approve and classify something like this if it is similar to existing designs? I would imagine so, and I wonder what hurdles someone would have to jump through to get to the end and sell them?

Anyone here in the firearm accessory business in Canada? It would be a fun project and fill the gap that Butler Creek has left for better quality 10/22 twenty five round magazines.

Thanks.

Yea, I just sold the ones I own. They work good once they're adjusted.

No dealers in Canada really keep them in stock. Small shipments seem to come and go very quick.

lone-wolf,

Why did you sell them? Did you find something better?

Were you able to get them somewhere on the east coast?

Thanks.

He sold them to me and they work flawlessly!...:D

I adjusted them so the fit into the magwell/receiver was just right and the bolt cycled freely before taking them out of the house.

Put the better part of a box of Winchester 333's through them yesterday without a hitch.

The Butler Creek mags are kinda hit and miss...I'd buy a couple more of these in a heartbeat.

i could never get my tacticalinc 25 rd mag to work in my sr-22. fits in there loose. height is adjustable but it rattles around and causes misfeeds

Good to hear. I bought them back when tactical inc shipped to Canada.
Sorry to say, tactical inc magazines in my opinion are the best. It's too bad, US export laws have cause many US companies not to deal with Canada anymore due to potential legal issues.

Thanks, lone-wolf,

I appreciate the information and I'm glad that Ryan j likes them too.

Kenifilis,

That's disheartening news about your tactical inc. magazine rattling around in your SR-22. That's exactly the problem that I'm having with the Butler Creek steel lips magazine that I have. It's too bad, because as lone-wolf says, they're probably the best ones out there for after market magazines. The BX-25 made by Ruger fits tight and is guaranteed to work as well as their rotary magazines, according to a youtube video on the Ruger website. They're prohibited here though, because Ruger markets them as a pistol magazine here as well, and we can't have 25 round pistol magazines in Canada. Hopefully they'll change the packaging and the classification at some point so that we can get them up here for our 10/22's.

Maybe it is worthwhile to try to make some magazine prototypes in Canada, or just add some extra material on the front end of the Butler Creeks to keep them in place. I will look into the legality of making a prototype magazine, and see if it's legal for the average joe to do. If anyone knows where to find this information and can post it here, I would appreciate it.

Thanks, all!

You would think some dealer in CGN would jump all over these to make a tidy profit. Don't dealers make more on accessories than they do on firearms? Sometimes I think I should go into business, make a nice profit, and satisfy all my Canadians. TI 25ers and Bushmaster ACRs for all!

Looking for tactical innovations 25rd magazines as well for my 10/22 and the girlfriends 10/22. We bought 4 Butler Creek and have had nothing but jamming.
I have a brother in washington state. Can he buy them and I bring them across the border or is that illegal?

Thanks.

give cole at tuffer buffer a try
he was able to hook me up last year
you may have to get on a list and wait but it is well worth it
he may still be able to get the aluminum ones as well

mostly the butler creek steel lips work for me but my 77/22 wont accept them

these work great in it
the only problem is that when they are adjutsed to fit they are scewed out so far there is not much thread left sticking in the magazine so i will have to get some longer ones

Hi southerner,

You sure made me drool with a photo of sixteen of those ti 25 magazines! Do you really have that many? Care to sell a couple to me? :D

I just e-mailed Cole at Tuffer Buffer and he sent me a lightning fast response. Unfortunately he no longer deals in 10/22 accessories because he says that it's too difficult to get things in from the USA. It's unfortunate, because I'd love to take one of these apart and design something similar. He seems like a great guy though, very courteous!

yes he was good to deal with
sorry to hear he quit
but not surprising as i hate to think of the hassles involved getting them up here

about the only other thing i can suggest is to place a wtb ad in the rimfire parts section
and then patiently wait

you will likely find some that way
i am happy with mine and am keeping them all but i have read others on here that dont like them for one reason or another

forget about the 25 rounders being made in canada what we want/need is an electric 525 round one :D

Try Fabsports, they used to carry them and thats where i got my half dozen from last summer.

I wish we could get rugers 25rd magazines up here. Nothing beats factory for function.

Thanks, Tragedy,

I agree. I wish that they sold the bx-25 up here as well. It would make things much easier. :D
