I am just getting back into reloading and starting to do some BR shooting. My rifle is a Savage model 12 BVSS in 223. I was over at my friends and he was trying to help me set up the free bore for the rifle. When he put in the OAL gauge with the modified case and bullet, he would slide the case all the way in, then loosen the set screw and push the bullet forward. It would come to a stop like it was on the lands but if he applied a little bit more pressure or jiggled it a bit it would jump forward almost 1/10" then stop. We tried this quite a few times and it always did this, any ideas?
On a previous post I mentioned that when I went out to break in the barrel with Winchester white box ammo I found that 5 of the 40 cases had splits in the neck to the shoulder, not sure if this is related?
Any help much appreciated, I am going to load up some rounds this week and go see how it shoots. Thanks, Cheers Roscoe
