Savage 10 FCP-SR on order!

:D Ok so back to is it to look at or shoot? If it's to shoot your choice is clear. Buy the Savage 10 FCP, a set of Burris or Millet steel rings and 10X40 Bushnell Elite, under $1500 out the door. If your near Gravenhurst you can be out and shooting before it gets too dark.

Just to satisfy my curiosity I looked up some talk about the Falcon scope. If you buy the rifle you were first looking at I'd say it's about that scope as there are half a dozen rifles you could buy at Epps with glass out the door under $1500. As far as I can tell it's not worth getting too excited over. It looks like a middle of the road scope for an upper middle of the road price. I've never owned or held one, but every middle of the road scope I've held with high end bells and whistles hasn't impressed me much. Great features aren't worth the poor image at high mag.

Central BC so not that quick :D

Well that FCP is one smexy rifle for sure....

I tried calling Epps before I left for work but they were closed and I can't phone long distance from work. :(

Wonder if I can order by email....

Mght sound wrong but I might just slap my surplus Tasco Varmint onto the rifle for now and then wait long enough not to be noticed and pick up a scope for around $700.

"Yes hunny, I used a scope I had lying around to save us money!"

;)

Now your talking! If it works, it works. I have an old Tasco scope that keeps on ending up on rifles because it still does the job. Just over $500 will get you a Bushnell 4200 6-24X40 (for now anyway), no need to spend more unless you need really high mag. If you keep your eyes open and $100 bucks set aside as lay away cash you can score some great deals. I just had a scope put aside for 90 days. A dealer known for good if not great prices is selling a Burris scope for $560 that I'm getting for $290.

That's the problem with this Tasco Varmint 6-24, everyone makes fun of it but damnit, it's been doing it's job longer than any of my scopes even after my Bushnell and Vortex had to be returned :D

I want to place my order damnit! Epps return my email! :p

Congrats! Well everyone has an idea in their head for the new rifle.... lets hear it! Whats going to happen first!?

Hell if I know. :D

Good scope, bipod, and cheek pad will be added. Hopefully another mag is Savage releases them as well.

But we'll see how she shoots though. If she shoots good with my Tasco on her then she'll be even better with a good Bushnell!

Right now the closest thing I have to a "precision" rifle is my cheap Savage .270 that I use to hunt with.

As you can see it's not that precise :D

Isnt that the way hey :)

Ok so my rifle arrived and I took it out with friends for a good old random redneck shoot. I picked up two boxes of cheap Winchester 150gr to "semi" sight it in and to just play around with since we were only shooting at 100 yards anyways.

I noticed though that even though both boxes of ammo were supposed to be the same the actual bullets were different. One had a lead point at the tip and the others didn't.

One thing I noticed was the ones without the lead tip, that bolt was a ##### to open to eject the spent round.

I'm going to reclean and lube it when I get home and will update this.

Oh so you are the guy that bought the first one from EPPs list of Savage rifles. There were only 2 on the list and when I start looking and then when I went back to order mine, one of them was SOLD. Of course I snagged the second one. Im looking forward to seeing what I can do with mine and a Bushnell Elite 4200. It will be a while before I can afford a Vortex and Millet rings.

Lots of comments about what you can get cheaper for a rifle. For me its about shooting a rifle that Im in love with. So I spend a couple of extra bucks on it. I know when I open up the rifle case I will I will get excited about what I see. Thats gotta be worth something.

We are going to have so much to talk about :D

Forgot to mention that Epps has an order form that you can download off the website. Print it, fill it out and Fax it to the number on the site. That is how I order all my guns from Epps. You get real fast service.

No fax machine or calling long distance from work and I didn't want to wait until I got home to order it!
