Thinking of grabbing a ISSC MK 22 but i keep reading mixed reviews. I have an M&P 15-22 but the restricted status just bothers me considering its a 22.

I'd stay away right now.

Im in the same boat (minus a tacticool .22 already), and every time I read reviews, it's always "FTE/FTF/Stovepipe this, ammo that"

For a 600+ rifle you'd think that it would "work" right out of the box, where you can pick up a 10/22 for 300 buxish and it's a "built like a tank" gun.

I read recently of people doing a lot of "modding" to get theirs to work...

And yes while it is a "nice looking" .22 I dont think that getting frustrated at the range is any better then having a restricted.

I've been waiting for a good .22 since the GSG5 fiasco, and almost bought the Rouger, M&P, now ISSC...

Im glad I didnt jump the gun on any of them.

(I mean a restricted .22? WTF!)

Totally agree. $600+ for a gun that has many issues = crazy. Think of what you could do with a 10/22 for that price. You have simply the best gun already. The 15-22 is awesome. Works great and looks cool. The only thing that sucks is the restriction and now the 10 round cap on the mags. If s&w had there act together, theyd make a Canadian legal 30 round magazine.
I have the mossberg simply because I haven't sent my restricted paperwork in. Plus the mossberg is half the cost of the 15-22. Ontop of that, I can shoot it at my acreage unlike the restricted 15-22!

Yeah, there are several threads on this particular gun already if you do a bit of searching. I've been contributing my experiences with my MK22 under this thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=710718

Long story short: It's a HELL of a fun gun to shoot -- once you get it working reliably. But it's taken me months of tinkering with it to get it to that point. If you're willing to do some (probably warranty-voiding) kitchen-table gunsmithing... then yeah, it's a heck of a fun toy. If you want something reliable out of the box... then no, I'd recommend against it. While some people report that theirs works great out of the box, the mix seems to be about 50/50, so you have a pretty good chance of ending up with a "dud" (which can be fixed, with a great amount of frustration and patience).

I have the same opinion as Alter3d. I am actually considering buying another one now that the registry is dead, and if I do, I will do the receiver strengthening mod that I described in the same thread that Alter3d while it is still new. just that one simple fix alone, greatly strengthens the gun.

Some seem to be duds, some seem to be winners. I got mine last October from Wolverine. With just under 500 rounds through it, I've had no issues. Others had problems every time they pulled the trigger. Maybe a comparison of serial numbers vs performance would be useful? See if we can narrow down the good and bad along the production line.

I've got 250 Stingers and another 1000 rounds of various manufacture that I intend to shoot this weekend. All I've done to my rifle is given it a quick cleaning and lube, added a FAKE-OG and swapped the screw pins for HK push pins. More to follow Sunday after I run this ammo.

Would anyone else be interested in a database? I'll put something together shortly.

Yes put something together, cause i want one but theres so many good and bad reviews about it i dont know what to do. Maybe i should just buy one and pray its a good one lol.

Done. Now all I ask is for owners to take 30 seconds to post their info.
