Purely anecdotal but it would appear that the milsurps were in hottest demand at the Calgary gun show today. Most of the folks with rifles in hand, or slung over the shoulders, were sporting Enfields, Mauser, Mosins, etc. and there were lots of folks fondling the full wood rifles at the tables.

Overall, though, I would say the selection of milsurps was down over previous years. I saw only one Johnson, and it wasn't for sale.

There were some reasonably priced items among the "you must be kidding" items, but by and large it was easy to walk by most of the items.

- An early Lebel, reworked in 1916, bolt mis-matchm was listed for $350. I had it in my hands but walked away. (it's gone).

- A Chassepot needle gun in, what to my newbie eyes, appeared in great condition is/was going for $600.

- FN49s (referenced in the current FN49 thread) were not moving at $750+
- No. 4 Enfields started in the low $400s and went up from there
- A smattering of RC and other mausers running from the high $300s
-A few Mosins and at least three VZ-52s, from the $500s (sold methinks) to above $700, still there.
- Cheapest Garand I saw was $1,000 - 1950, beat-up but did come with the grenade launcher

I may have missed it, but I didn't see much ammunition to feed the beasts either. A few crates of 7.62x39 , and odd boxes here and there of surplus.

Walked out with two boxes of ammo for the Boer Mauser and a clearing rod for my Long Lee. That's it. Anyone else scoop up some goodies?

Damn - wish I was in Alberta this weekend - that needle gun would likely have been mine and I would NEVER have passed up a complete Lebel for $350 - going rate is more like $700+ for decent ones, almost all have m/m bolts.

I was absolutely gobsmacked at the price of the Lee Enfield #4 Mk 1 (T)'s at the show today, 1 guy wanted $2,100 for a mismatched one, another sellar wanted $3,000 for his, and when I asked if it was matching, he told me that they rarely are found matching. I looked him in the eye and commented well then mine is matching, thereby blowing his whole sales pitch.

I finally found a matching one for sale, for $7,500.00. I almost had a stroke when I seen that. I've always found gun prices at the calgary gunshow a little high, but boy is this silly or what?

That was for a 1944 Long Branch sniper. I was told it was all matching...scope, scope case, bracket, wood and came with the transit case. $7500 is definitely up there but a Long Branch sniper is certainly not something you see everyday.

Some overpriced crap there. :D Looked at an Egypt contract, FN 49, think it was from Wolverine. Fn stock was black and so oil soaked, it was dripping. 650. tag on it. Offered him half, which I thought was a fair price for the piece of s**t, since there was a way better condition, couple of isles over, for 100 bucks less. No luck. Did see some good stuff though. Show was HUGE.

Wolverine had a g43 mismatched for 4K+
A bolt mismatched 33/40 for 3K was beside it.:bangHead:
And the g41 was a cool 6700, nice but not that nice.

If I knew my pistols a bit better, thats where I guy could have maybe found a deal, but apparently everyone there knows what its worth plus 40%....
Couldnt even deal on a book. Guy wanted 40, I offered 30 and apparently offended him.

The older the seller= the higher the price.

$7500.00 for a all matching Long Branch #4 T sniper is cheap.I would have bought it.I know of 2 that sold for over $10.000.00

Did anyone else notice the 1200$ sks? Forgive my ignorance but what makes a sks worth 1200?

On another note I'm still looking for the elusive Vz 52/57 mags.

Some people would rather display their stuff than sell it.
By pricing it stupidly high, they get to display it next month too!

Walmart, on the other had, got fabulously wealthy by pricing stuff so that it moves fast.

Hi:
Did you just happen to see the two Thompson M1s at Wolverine Supply booth?

Anyone see the G43? I didn't get a chance to check it out or the price.

Could be wrong, but I think it was 4500. Wolverine's booth, as well. Didn't see the Thompsons, but there was a Commando carbine elsewhere and somebody had a Long Branch dewat Sten for 450., which i didn't think was too bad.

Grizz

I bought a National Postal Meter M1 carbine with bayonet and kit for $800.
I haven't felt right since selling a fairly nice Underwood last year...
