I just got given(since the reg is gone!!!!!) a Lee Enfield that has been sitting in my grandfathers basement for 30 years. The rifle looks in ok shape, it was a bit dusty, and dry as hell but nothing a good clean and oil didn't fix. The one question I have though, is the bolt doesn't seem to sit quite right in the receiver. Is there a gunsmith in vancouver that can do a test fire at their shop instead of taking it to a range to test fire or inspect?

I will post some pictures later on.

Are the lugs full of dirt? From what understand of your post, you are asking this prior to the cleaning of the rifle. Give it a good cleaning, check what #4mk1(T) said, AND POST PICTURES.

Yup, Worthless without a pic. but;
Does the bolt head ride in the reciever track or above it? ie;
The bolt must be retracted almost all the way, the little lever at the rear of the track depressed and the bolt head moved back and down then forward. If it rides above the track, you won't be able to close it.

Oh yeah, and as No4mk1 said, the head must be turned all the way in, then slightly the other way untill it can go down

I took some pics. I still havent cleaned it.

On the side of the reciever it does say No.4 Mk1 ROF (F)

Nice looking for sitting in a basement for so long. I was so hoping for a non butchered one that still had all its original furniture. Still a nice looking gun, hope you get her all cleaned up and get to take 'er out and fire a few boxes through her.

Gave it a good solid clean and took it out on sunday. Fired a couple boxes through 'er. Everything fired nice, but it didnt like picking up rounds from the mag. The mags arent the original for the rifle, i bought them from Marstar. It seems the rounds need to sit kinda cocked off to the side for the bolt to pick them up and feed them straight.

Make sure that the magazine is seated all the way. Rock the front in, then the back and push up firmly. Don't hit it hard. Then look in the action and check to make sure it's tight to the bottom of the action.
