SVT 40 problem

Just set it on 1.7 then. It will work in all conditions.

The adjustment is to minimize gunk in the piston. I like that feature as it reduces wear and time cleaning the piston/regulator. If you dont care for that feature, just set it on 1.7 and dont think about it again. Not a flaw, just an extra feature.

I have a few SVTs (5+) and trust me, I think they are a neat rifle.

I have only shot one of these rifles (my first SVT) and the first time I brought it to the range, I didn't even know about the gas system. The first time I pulled the trigger, the shot went off and there was no bolt movement, I did some head scratching and realized that there was a gas adjustment (which was loose). Fast forward two years and I went back to the range with an SVT original tool and more knowledge in regards to the rifle. I had preset the gas level to 1.3. Upon my first shot, no luck. I eventually adjusted the gas system to the smallest gas bleeding hole (I forget if this is 1.1 or 1.7). Well the rifle fired and it provided me with semi ejections. I eventually moved the setting to 1/2 way between 1.1/1.7= No setting and the rifle worked just fine.
It could just be my SVT, but if something works, why mess with it.

um since were on the subject of svt problems my SVT cleaning rod keeps poping out of socket when i shoot so im kinda worried il blow the end of the rod off one day is this common or just me?

Check the little button release to be sure work freely. The catch hold the rod very securely, its usually a trouble free design.

the catch works fine i tride pulling the rod out by hand when locked in and it doesent move. can this be result of the excesive movement of the rifle while shooting? as seen in this super slow mo as posted by a member earlier
