I recently bought a Norinco CQ to become a 3 gun superstar:p and I'd like to learn the right way to operate this rifle. There's more than one way to skin a cat, but I'd like to be doing it the best way. Anyone have any links or vids where I can learn important basics and brush up on the platform? Thanks.

Youtube has some decent stuff, But range time is the ultimate. Play with your rifle while watching a movie, and before you know it your looking down range and dealing with jams, FTF, FTE, etc..

both the JM and magpul dvd are good.

JM is geared towards 3gun and hardware, the magpul dvd's are allot more intense.

Some of Magpul's videos are good. Costa and Haley are quite entertaining.

But Jerry Miculek's video is great. Worth the money.

Almost as good as Saul Kirsch's double alpha videos for IPSC.

Panteao productions makes the adaptive carbine DVDs taught by Travis Haley... As well as other videos from top notch guys.... Viking tactics by kyle lamb has some great drills to help run your gun too... Larry vivckers also has videos produced by daniel defence too, But nothing can replace a course, so you can get hands on help to correct any issues

I have no doubt a course would be the best for hands on experience, but I'd say even watching videos is a place to start, to have an idea as to the "how to" and then practice. I've never witnessed anyone else besides me field dress a deer (except for in videos) and I'm not too shabby at that.:)

Take a course! Video's are great but they will only take you so far.

+1! Video's and books are fine, but sometimes only a trained person can help you to figure out your mistakes.

Or go shooting with a buddy and then apply the "coach-system".

Have him look for your mistakes while you shoot. Helps a great deal.

All very valid points, videos contain a wealth of info... However they are just that, the Viking tactics drills mean nothing if you can't shoot...

Looking forward to taking courses later this summer

Videos are ok. Learning from a professional is second to none. If you can go to a course with an experienced operator, benefits are huge. HST courses are very reasonably priced as well.
