# NOTE: The Twin City AND The Elmira Score Shoot of June 30 and July1 will be combined scoring for a 2 day 2 club Grand Agg to be recognized as the Provincial

Score Championships.

OCTOBER 20 LISTOWEL SCORE SHOOT

NOV 18 ELMIRA SCORE SHOOT



The Group Shoots at Elmira ranges will be 100yrd LV and HV (am & pm)on Sat dates and 200 yrd LV and HV (am & pm) on Sunday dates.

ALL matches at ALL Clubs will start registration at 8am with a 9am start time.


IMPORTANT NOTE:
For those shooters who have an interest in seeing what this sport is all about or would like to give it a try,you do NOT have to own a Custom Built Fullblown Benchrest Rifle to shoot these matches.
We have shooters shoot factory rifles off the bench using rests,sandbags, bipods.Even Varmint field custom rifles are welcomed.Just remember NO Brakes.
It is a great chance to meet and chat with some of the more experienced and knowledgeable (not to be read as "OLD") precision shooters/reloaders around.
Course of fire is 5 matches at 100 yard and 5 matches at 200 yard
Each match has 5 scoring/group shots with unlimited sighters in a 7 minute timeframe.
Some preload and a lot load in between relays.
Score shoots are shooting 1 round on 5 scoring targets per match,while group shoots are trying to put 5 rounds into the smallest group on 1 scoring target.
FWIW these matches can be a lotta fun and you might even learn something about extreme precision shooting.

what would be recognize as a Production rifle and what kind of upgrades are allowed?

In my opinion Factory/Production would be
all original parts still remain but "tweeking" allowed such as tuning trigger,free float barrel and bed action ......
As soon as you start to replace factory parts IE: new trigger,new barrel,change stock to a non factory model you enter the world of Custom Class.
Hopefully all 3 clubs can agree to class definitions. I've recommended that they
establish a minimum number of shooters per class before "trophies" awarded.
If insufficient number to establish class in match ,then shooters would be shooting for
Class Honors and recognition in results/Newsletter.

Thanks for the post Gord O. As soon as I'm back in Ontario I'd like to come out to give it a try. I bought a hevy benchrest gun at an auction last year on the spur of the moment and would like to run a few rounds through it. I don't reload as of yet but will be by the end of the summer. In the meantime, can I run factory ammo through a Gerry Geske sleeved action or will the chamber be too tight to chamber factory rounds. Best guess answer will do. I just don't want to buy a few boxes, if its a waste. I may have to wait until I'm set-up to reload to try that cannon out.

I was looking at THAT rifle at the Paris auction. Funny you should mention it.
I believe that cannon weighs 70lbs plus and had a 5" wide forearm.I do not recall
if the barrel was stamped 338/378 (neck diameter?) so I would be cautious chambering any round. Safest way is to cerro cast the chamber and mic dimensions accordingly.
It could be that you may have to turn necks,but then again not.
In our style of 100/200 yrd benchrest I think you maybe a little "overgunned" with that cannon. Keep in mind we'll be running through approx 100 plus rounds for the day(50 on score and approx 50 sighters.100 plus rounds of 338/378 is 1.pricey 2.somewhat fatiguing.
That gun was made for 1000 yard benchrest......There's quite a bit of the 600 and 1000yrd benchrest happening stateside and your rifle would fit in the unlimited heavy class.
It truly was an interesting build.Be sure to post some results when you get her up and running.

you are correct.custom trigger and stock would put you in the custom class.
Actually whatever class you shoot in,it's still a blast to shoot.
 
Thanks for the quick reply Gord O. I guessed that I might have to turn necks to chamber a round. I'll have to see if waterloo can do a cast for me and then get my butt in gear and get set-up to reload. I know I won't be competitive until I do. Milcun has a reloading class scheduled for this summer that I hope to participate in.
I can't wait to put that cannon to the test. :D
You can bet that I'll have results posted once I get it out. I don't plan on running state side to compete though. I'm a little disappointed that there isn't a 1,000 yard competition here

Once you've got some loads worked up,you can still shoot it at distance here in Ontario but just not Benchrest.We shoot prone off rests (F Class open) but I'm afraid your rifle is a wee bit too heavy to make weight. However you can still come out to ORA practices at Mons range Borden and shoot practices.
I believe there is some long range Benchrest available out in BC,but it's a bit of a drive.
Good idea to get someone to assist you in learning reloading,especially with a custom round like that.
Front rest and rear bags will be critical for getting the most out of tracking of that stock.
Looking forward to seeing it up and running.

TWIN CITY BENCHREST SCORE SHOOT REMINDER......
This Sat ....Director has asked me to remind shooters.

Forcast is for possibility of rain but they are wrong more than right.
We have enclosed firepoints anyways ,so bring it on.

Still looking for a couple of volunteers to help out around the match.(New Gator will make target fetchin a little more fun)
